If you are turning the porch into a "real room" won't the new front be the front door?

I think that style of door is fine. Not so sure about the ornate sidelights, since this will be in proximity to so much regular glass (rather than acres of brick or whatever on a different kind of house). Might just go clear, or maybe partly frosted if privacy is a concern.

I also prefer clear glass. I would do a painted door so you can get some color besides red and brown on your house. Have you decide what kind of windows, yet? Vinyl? Wood? Color?

Yes, the new door would be where the sliding doors are now. And I think we are leaning toward vinyl windows to replace the storm windows on the porch now. I love that blue door! My only worry on clear glass is that the sidewalk is not far away

I have never been a fan of side lights. If it were me I would install a unique painted door and frame it in with some interesting woodwork, possible raised panels or other to provide a focal point.
