Removing the Pelargonium seed husk

The seed husk has a slit which runs from its front tip all the way to the base of the "tail". If I hold the husk with my fingers against the tip and the tail end, then I can press lightly, open the slit and take-out the seed.

does it harm the seed or compromise germinating rate?
