The mirror is great and I envy your closets -- but could use a little more info. What size is the room? It would help to see it sketched out as a floor plan. Can the ceiling fan/light be hung flush to ceiling instead of extending down? That would help.

Will the bed fit where the bureau is now? From the photos it looks like it would. What size is the rug? The rug design right now is overpowering the room and it dominates in
scale and color, so some balance would help, but I like the warmth the
color adds. Can the rug be rotated and moved closer to the wall where the headboard is and still extend enough around the bed? Have you considered a softer window treatment?

I'd also like to see something done in paint, fabric, or a large piece of artwork to visually heighten the headboard. I'd also prefer something more interesting in lamps and end tables - a bit less matchy perhaps.

Love the rug! The colors are warm and comfortable. I would perhaps switch its orientation. A large piece of wall art or mirror would look fantastic above the headboard. There is too much open space the way it is now. The room needs a little more pop of color. I would try to arrange that within the lamps. Nice room :)

Furniture placement is about the best you can do since placing the bed opposite the door provides optimal secure, restful sleep. Bedside tables don't need to match but should reach mattress height and when topped with a lamp the two items should reach 58-64" above the floor. The rug is too large and the print in it is too big. The size might be OK if the bed were centered on the floor space so equal amounts of rug could extend on both sides. You'll want to go smaller, or have this rug cut down a bit and re-bound. A pair of floor to ceiling drapery panels at the ends of the window will soften the shutters. Move the mirror between the closets and add a small chaise where the mirror is now. Pick some new bedding and decorate around the colors in it. Consider chalk painting the furniture if it is in good condition and you don't hate it. Or just paint it with a satin finish regular paint.

It looks like you have gray walls and pink and gray bedding, so I don't understand the choice of the bold rust colored rug. I really like the rug, but not for this room.

If you are satisfied with the usefulness of the nightstands then keep them. I would paint them though.

I agree that the rug really doesn't go w the bedding. I'd get a new comforter in a neutral color. Having a tiny bit of olive green on it wouldn't be bad either:) i think that would be a good first step. I'd push the rug a little further under the bed, but looks like the right size to me

Night tables need to go. Rug size is fine, but definitely not restful colors. I'd relocate it if possible to a different room.

Then choose new bedding and coordinate around it.

Mark's rendering is perfect. The only thing I would add on top of his suggestions is a bench at the end of the bed to put on/take off shoes. I would take the print that's on the wall next to your bed and put it over your dresser with a few more pieces of art to make a small collage wall or you could add two pretty, taller vases on either end of the dresser with your photo collage in the center.

Mark, wow that looks great! Yes I knew the bedding needed improvement, I just didn't know what color. I am shocked about how great that contrast of the nightstands look in the room! I was stuck with 'too much warm brown wooden pieces' and didn't know where to go with it. The rug does not fit if turned sideways, but I will move it up more as suggested. Gosh, it actually sounds like I need a different rug. I am open to that. What size/orientation is best in relation to the king size bed? I picked it because I liked the colors against my wooden pieces. Maybe a bench at the end of the bed will cover up more of that large flower and calm it down some more. Should I kind of coordinate colors/look of night stand with bench, or should I go a neutral upholstered look maybe?

I think only a few people don't like the rug. I love it in there.
If you like where mark went w the pic, then I'd say a black leather tufted bench or a soft fabric in a dark cream, also tufted. Even a soft fabric in an olive green would be unexpected and look great

Yes, Jordan, I agree the rug should be pulled further under the bed but I did not because then I felt too much floor was exposed near the closet doors. The floor plan displays this better.

I like the rug. You aren't going to be looking at the rug when you go to sleep ...I don't think there's any problem with the colours and it works nicely with the wood tones. Mark's rendering really snaps the room into shape.

Also the addition of drapes is the first thing I thought of when I looked at the room. The extra fabric on the walls would cosy the room up considerably.
