well, you have a backsplash, that 4 inches of counter is considered a backsplash, you should take it down if you want to add a different backsplash, I'm not sure you need decorations for counters, I'm a big fan of nothing maybe a bowl of fruit? I like your idea of white dishes in glass cabinet, beautiful kitchen!!!!

I see what you're saying about the 4in counter section. But I want the wall to have backsplash. Being I cook a lot and everything splashes on the wall and eventually it will look messy
I was thinking of something like a bowl or something. I have small appliances but seem to clutter up the small space I have. Don't know where to put them but there.

Always consider Greenery. Laminated adhesive vinyl would work for your back splash. Choose colorful design.

What a beautiful kitchen! If you are worried about splashing on the wall when you cook, a durable ceramic or glass backsplash would be an easy to clean solution. Not sure the existing backsplash can be removed, looks to be an Arborite type of counter top, if so the backsplash is likely integrated into the top.

In response to kitchen abode, you mentioned my counter tops are aborite material. Not familiar with that term as though I was told it was granite tops. Once again another misrepresentation from the contractor who built this home.
I'm not really happy with the home. My husband bought this while I wasn't present. Just great!!
But I'm here and I got to decorate it for my peace.
I cannot remove the 4in backsplash unless I take it apart which is costly. I'm going to put up some backsplash along with it. I just hope it looks good.

The small counter next to the refrigerator is ideal for a beverage center. Find a narrow rectangular tray for things like salt and pepper, olive oil, etc.... A two tiered rack for fruit would break up the line and add a lot of natural color. I would wait until you've lived there a bit to decide on an accent color, try some different colors with towels or cutting boards.
