I actually like the blue, but those doors are weird! Dining room could be a deeper blue. Otherwise, sage green goes well with wood tones.

Your glass in cabinets should be replaced. It will make a huge impact. Consider not frosted, but translucent glass with lines or texture instead of frosted. Huge impact, and more sophisticated.

If you're keeping your wood cabinets--they seem to be in good condition--then order refaced cabinet fronts in the same wood but with glass--clear or frosted. On the wall nearest the dishwasher and dining room, consider open wood shelves. They work particularly well in galley kitchens if your dishes and glassware are ready for prime time--less hassle and a great budget solution.

As for paint, since the kitchen is totally open to the dining room, use same paint color, finishes, and complementary lighting throughout. That will open up the space.
