You might want to consider the new(ish) Tide pur clean honey lavender liquid. It is free from Optical Brighteners, which can make darks and blacks look dull.

Dose carefully, and it works and rinses well!

Someone here recommended Perwoll black and I bought a bottle to try. I like the way it cleans and smells but it might take awhile to see if dark pants last longer.

I use Miele for blacks and have been very happy. I have tried Woolite for blacks and havent been as pleased, but I like the smell. I'd like to buy a bottle of Perwoll for my next bottle. The above detergents in my post are liquids.

I use Woolite for Darks on all blacks and jeans and I've been pleased with it. Wrongside out, tepid water and I have black jeans I've been wearing for years with very little fading present. I haven't tried other products for darks so have nothing to compare it to, but I've had no reason to change. In bulk at Costco and they often have a coupon.

Disclaimer: I don't use it on my gardening jeans whether they are black or not, or DHs heavily soiled work jeans. Those get hot water, and Tide ;0)

The Woolite for Darks works fine for lightly soiled items, but I would not try it for really dirty garments worn for yard work, farm, horse barn, etc. It has a light floral scent that is not overpowering, and does not suds up much, if at all. It has a tint/dye in it, which is how the garment's dark color is preserved, so if you wash anything that is not black or navy blue, it might be a different color when you remove it from the washer.

So the moral of this story is don't use black for chore clothes ;)

I've used Perwoll for blacks for a long time. It works pretty well but it's not a heavy duty detergent. I would describe it as mild.

Recently I started using the Euro Persil for colors liquid and that cleans better with no fading. This Euro Persil liquid looks/smells exactly like the new Fresh Scent blue detergent. Question is are they the same formulation or not? Haven't bought the American liquid as yet as I still have the other as well as the Perwoll.

I didn't care for the dark Woolite, which I also tried. I find Woolite wimpy and semi-useless. The mild Henkel liquids seem to do a better job for me.

I second the Perwoll for blacks advice. The label on the Perwoll for blacks product I purchase is printed in German and I presume the product origin is Germany.

My two long hair cats, a Maine Coon and a Rag Doll, like to sleep on the king size bed in the master bedroom. I had purchased three bath sheets in dark colors to put on the bed in an attempt to keep the cat hair in control. The colors of the bath sheets have been refreshed/deepened considerably in my opinion since using Perwoll for blacks detergent.

I have not tried any of the other products mentioned in this post but I heartily recommend giving the Perwoll product a try.

Speer, out of all the ones you've named I'd say the Euro Color is my personal favorate, it gives superior cleaning. I've only ever had one box of it, but its on my wish list. LOL

I have a bit of a stash of it of course haha. The megaperls seems to be getting a little harder to find. I did find a big box of 'Persil Color Professional' I'm curious if anyone knows more information about it versus the other versions. It's 50 bucks for '110 loads'..but my experience is that I can get good performance using 1/2 to 1/3 of the dosage (with STPP), which makes it close to the cost of Tide without the OBAs

Is Perwoll available in any stores in the US like Walmart or online from Europe only? So Cheer powder HE would be better than Cheer liquid? How about Charlie's Soap for dark colors? I tried Woolight from dark colors and wasn't that happy. Anyone ever try MAS Darks Oscura from Walmart? I believe it's from Mexico.

Perwoll is a german import, so online only. Cheer liquid has optical brighteners, while the powder does not. Charlie's would be good for darks as well. I have good luck with it, but others do not. It's pretty sensitive to water type. It also has no significant water softening ability, so it tends to work better if you have soft to slightly hard water. It also has no enzymes or bleach, so pretreating stains and adding some color safe bleach helps a lot.

Gary-MAS Oscuro for darks is a really decent detergent and at a great price point as well! I can highly recommend it for normally soiled laundry loads with a minimum warm wash temp. If you are lucky enough to find it in your area snap it up as I don't believe it's in all areas. It's the "budget " darks detergent with surprisingly good results. Smells nice and fresh with light scent out of the dryer. I like it a lot. I'm also a cheer powder fan! The scent is lovely and not strong. Works great on my kids dark navy polos, shorts and pants school uniforms! Right now I'm using tide purclean for my darks as I got a great deal on the bottle. Another winner IMO, a little pricier though. Dose carefully if using a FL with purclean though as I've heard it can be a tad sudsy. ( I use a TL)

Oh Gary I forgot to add. Mas oscuro for darks has the same dark tint as the pricier darks detergent so be sure to use for darks only!

MAS detergent is what Miami Mimi is referring to (was responding to Gary). This detergent had been discontinued. You may be able to find it at big lots.

Debra this is what you’re looking for if you can find it anywhere. I have many of them I found on clearance at Walmart before they quit carrying it.
