The blue is just as bad as the red. IMO you are headed down the wrong path. That mirror doesn't work with your current vanity. Your mirror over the vanity could be taller.

Also those sconces are really terrible. Very glarey. You should select a fixture that shines up/down with a much softer glow.

I'm not sure what your wall color should be--choices are endless. However, if you're keeping the vanity and brass fixtures, then get sconces in brass--modern and sleek-- and paint your mirror with gold leaf instead of the rope mirror. Oops, I see Beverley beat me to it with gold mirror, sconces, etc.

Not sure that soft aqua is the right color for this room, but I think you have to move away from those intense colors. A larger Queen Anne mirror and new sconces will help.

Vanities can be really affordable. Maybe get rid of it.

I like the denim color you have selected. My only suggestion is to paint the ceiling white.

How about grass cloth. Some texture might be nice with the other changes suggested.

I wouldn't remove the vanity, as your floors will be affected. I would paint the vanity black, dark grey or a deep navy/grey, change the sconces, mirror, hardware to brass and also change the counter to a white marble (could easily find a remnant and have cut to fit) and paint the walls white - you'll have a modern yet classic room.

If you want this look, you'll have to gut the vanity and be prepared to potentially redoing the floors.

I don't think the floors will be affected by removing the vanity at all.

The mirror you select cannot be wider than the vanity.

Your vanity doesn't really hold anything, would you consider replacing it with a large pedestal sink?
