They're in the second day of moving earth (one excavator, one cat dozer, and a bobcat) and it looks like they might be done today. The GC was over with his tape measure double checking the dimensions a few minutes ago.

Yes, what is that? The table base appears to be solid, which doesn't leave much knee space for the fixed benches and the table top has a weathervane right in the middle ... and someone built it in the middle of a field!

The little table is actually hiding the wellhead. My wife decided she didn't want the typical "plastic rock" that they tend to put over them around here.

All that grass out beyond is a 3000' turf runway.

Such red soil! Ours is dark dark grey, due to so much clay!

No idea if this is the case for the OP, but the red soil could also be clay. :-) Iron oxide turns it a really nice red! (I like working with porcelain and red iron oxide clays.)

Actually, the C-130s don't make all that much noise until they reverse props...

Poor city dweller, Worthy!. Turf runways aren't unusual at all. Usually small private planes or, in farming areas, used by crop dusters. Rarely even notice the sounds, they just become part of life.

I like airplane noise. My parrot does, too. We caught her making an unusual sound the other day and we couldn't place it until my neighbor taxied by and she did it again. She's making airplane noises.

Runways behind homes is very common in suburban Anchorage, where I grew up.

I have parrots too! Make sure you build a special place for her in your new home! :)
