I would like freshen up 2 fireplaces in our home (built 2005). Both have reddish brick with a faux painted oak mantel and surround (it looks very real). We have 11 1/2" kick moldings painted a soft white (as are all the moldings i.e. ceiling, around doors and windows). The kitchen FP's brick goes straight to the floor, but the bedroom FP has a brick raised hearth with brick going up to the mantel. Should I paint the mantel and surround to match the other moldings in the room? Should I paint the brick??
