Make sure the spreader is calibrated properly prior to application. I just completed this application today. It was also Urea 46-0-0 but by another manufacturer. For calibration I marked out a 1000sq ft area (100 ft long x 10 ft wide). To obtain approximately 1 pound of nitrogen per 1000 sq ft, I weighed out exactly 2 pounds of urea and then transferred it into my Scotts drop spreader (Model is Accugreen 3000). I prefer using a drop spreader than a broad cast spreader because I believe it gives better control and more uniform application. I started off with a low setting ( 5 ) then fine tuned it to "8" when the two pounds of Urea was applied in one pass over the 1000 sq ft. The application was done on dry grass that was mowed a couple of days ago. After application, I immediately watered it in by turning on the sprinkler system for 15 minutes for each zone. This immediate watering will prevent any burning. Hope this info helps anyone who is attempting to do this.
