Hello Sharon and thank you for your question!

At Docking Drawer, we’re committed to creating innovative electrical products with the highest levels of safety in mind. In fact, Docking Drawer created 2 different types of outlets that address the growing demands for innovative in-drawer outlet solutions and match the needs many of our customers have.

First, our Docking Drawer CHARGING outlets feature 2 AC and 2 USB ports or just 4 USB ports. They also have a UL Listed circuit breaker that limits the AC outlets to 3AMPS which is just a fancy way of saying Docking Drawer outlets “know” to prevent high power devices from being used which ensures safe operation. CHARGING outlets are perfect for charging up to 4 personal technology devices such as laptops, tablets, phones and more but WILL NOT work to power hair dryers, mixers or any appliance that generates heat or has a motor.

Second (but not because they’re any less fantastic) are our Style Drawer and Style Drawer Flush POWERING outlets which are rated for 20AMPS and are designed to power devices such as hair dryers, curling irons, small kitchen appliances. When you’re charging technology, you might find that your devices and charging adapters can get warm– but they should not generate heat to the point where there is a risk of fire. That’s why our POWERING outlets feature an integrated thermostat that cuts power to the outlet in the event that the surrounding temperature exceeds 120 degrees F.

We offer a variety of CHARGING and POWERING outlets in many sizes to make finding the right solution super simple. Maybe that’s why there are thousands of Docking Drawer outlets installed in kitchens, bathrooms, professional sports teams locker rooms, high-rise condos, hotels, universities, yachts, and more around the world!
