Aja, These are really great! I was thinking about a natural-fiber blue rug to pick up the hint of blue in the kilim and the navy chesterfield....I'm just not sure if the room would look too dark and too matching. What do you think?

I should mention that I've had trouble locating a natural fiber rug that is 10 x 14ft or larger that is within my budget. I could stretch to $700ish. Also, my husband isn't exactly thrilled that i'm rolling up the floral Stark rug and purchasing more rugs to replace a "perfectly good rug". ; )

Love the idea of layering and totally agree no border. Natural jute is probably the best choice for this look. I think color under the Kilim will compete with it's natural and subtle beauty. It's the layering of texture that will take it out of the ballpark! So with that in mind, I like the rugs labeled showroom product in the natural colors.

I think a blue would be fabulous and add interest!!

And the rug could later be used alone.

I find jute to be less costly than sisal.
I googled jute + area rugs + 10' by 14'.

Before you choose a rug for layering, consider its quality and thickness.
You will need a rug with body that will not "scrunch up" but rather support your beautiful kilim.

And tell your hubby that a good rug, such as your kilim, will only go up in value! With proper care, wool rugs like leather, will last a lifetime!

We usually have 10 to 14 Persian and Oriental rugs - we are collectors and we continually buy, sell and trade up!
