The 4000 is what I usually use in kitchens it is the closest to natural daylight it probably feels stark because you are used to incandescent lighting which is really yellow

Look for bulbs somewhere in between. You will likely need to go to the manufacturers website and then order them through an electrical supplier.

We have 2700K in the basement and it doesn't seem too yellow. The 3000K is for the bathroom mirror and that actually looks pretty bright..These are personal preferences, obviously. I don't think you can get something better than 3k in terms of color. The 4k is very bright..I would say surgical room bright. If you like that color, then use dimmers
