What material are you using for the ceiling above the door

It is beautiful and I love it. I have always wanted a red front door, I am not sure what my husband has planned for that ceiling. The rails that will go on this porch are cedar. The pillars will be wrapped with stone at the bottom and cedar on the top. The stairs will be very wide and made of stone.

If you do a tongue and groove cedar ceiling that you match stains with door or do fir bead board but if you want a red door do it right use fine paints of Europe gloss on it color Rembrandt red I twill be amazing ! What part of the country are you in ?

Paint the door red, red, red!!! As someone on another thread said, "It's paint, not a tattoo." I'd probably stain the wood around the door pecan.

Yes but if you paint a stainable door to go back to stain is very hard .

My first thought is why? Yes a red door is nice - but is this just a whim? How does it fit in with the rest of your home. Easy to paint, a pain to strip. So if you have some kind of gut feeling that the exterior will look better with a red door then go for it. But frankly, this style of house, doesn't inspire bold colours

no! I love the natural wood, its gorgeous. I feel like the whole bright red door-thing is a fad and you will grow tired of it in the future. If you change it now, you wont be able to get back to that beautiful natural state it used to be!

I would have to agree with angel1. A stain would be a great way to introduce more colour.

Don't play it safe, do the door red. You may want to do a more subdued red, not the bright shocking red. You said you love color and always wanted a red door so I think there's your answer. One of my neighbors painted their door a bright color and every time I pass I can't help but look at the door. I love a colorful door and whimsy. You could tie the red in with flowers, flower pots and other porch furnishings with touches of the red. Please post the finished project.

I vote for red as you LOVE red doors, go on paint site like Benjamin Moore or any good paint site and use their program where you can insert your pics and try it or do like me and cut out the pic itself and using paint chip behind to see the results.. I vote for a rich deep cherry red , good luck your house will look awesome no matter what you do.
