I hope this is an allowed topic, as it is for my workplace. I am responsible for creating and furnishing offices for our professional staff of 14, and we are tapped out of office space. I learned just a couple weeks ago that we will be bringing a new full time staff member on board in January. I've looked at multiple scenarios to create more functional space, from office-sharing to adding modular units. The most economical (I think) idea is to transform a current storage closet into an office for our part time bookkeeper. 'm attaching photos of this space as it currently looks. Hideous- I know. The space is 18' long x 5' wide, and everything pictured in the photos would be removed. The essentials needed in this space will be a desk, file storage and a chair for one guest, along with the tech hookups which are already in place. What the space does have going for it is that it is centrally located in the office suite- for security (female staff member working with money); is private (door that locks) and soundproof due to the concrete block walls - a plus for concentrated work. I had looked at this space a few years ago to turn into an office, and got a quote from a contractor of $10,000(!) to re-do lighting, add drywall and new flooring. That was way, way out of budget. I have to do this on a very tight budget, as this was not an anticipated addition to our staff.

I'm asking for your feedback and ideas to make this a functional and inviting space. If you think its a crazy idea period, I need to hear that too. I have not mentioned this to the bookkeeper yet, as she might run screaming from the building!
