OMG!!! Yes, paint the cabinets, and no matter what you do to the floor, red will come through in the stain. But adding a lot of soft white would help, and your paint color will need the WARM side of gray, with enough green undertone. Stay far way from taupe.......it already has a pinkish undertone in most cases.

Ok...the floors look like engineered hardwood which means they MIGHT NOT be able to be refinished. So I would leave them alone for now...ignore them for now.

The cabinets will look wonderful when painted out. The "gray" idea is going to be a problem with that counter top. It is reading "yellow". It is hard to get gray on walls when granite/counters read strong yellow. Very, very, very difficult. A very GIFTED Interior Designer can get it done. You will pay a very nice fee to get that level of "gifted" for an Interior Designer. Most of us mere mortals would muck this up....badly.

So let's review the issues. The floors probably (more than 50% chance) they cannot be "fixed" without removing them. The cabinets will be very handsome when painted out. The granite colouring will not support gray (not without some serious professional intervention).

The question I pose to you is this: "How much do you WANT the gray?" Are you willing to recognise the counter top as the single largest obstacle in this situation for "gray"? And are you willing to remove the obstacle to get the colour scheme you want? Ie....remove the counter top, paint the cabs and bring in a new slab for the counter??? Your $5K - $7K repainting scheme just popped into the $15K refresh (if we assume $8K-$9K for a new counter).

Of course the good news is you have probably saved the $5/sf to refinish the floors...which will be used to change out the counter top.
