New Furniture Color

We just ordered furniture for the empty space in front of our fireplace, and I am nervous about the choices we made. The space is tight so we went with a solid chaise lounge and 2 accent chairs. The color swatches and room are shown. Any thoughts on the pattern? Does it work with the space, and if so what color curtains should I go with?

The pattern is kind of cool, and a close match of the fireplace. It's a small pattern? Could almost see others with less variations too.

    I like the solid.

your house seems cozy. i love it.
about the curtain, what kind of interior style r u? i like soft and cozy and naturals. so i recommend you to take brown shades, just take one of the rock's color on fireplace.

Whatever the blinds are made of - they have a look like the railing - in person you think so? Are those metal cables?!

Thanks! I wasnt sure what to do, but I like the idea of bringing out a dark color for the curtains. The blinds are white wooden blinds, so I wasn't sure if it would be too much contrast to pull in a dark color. Also the railing is stainless steel tubing. I don't have one true style so it's very eclectic.

Also, is the far/ fireplace wall a light yellow? and the rest another?

Maybe then a simpler accent fabric of heavy texture: chenille, tweed, herringbone, etc.....a pillow[s] of pattern would be nice.

Because the floor is so dark and dominating which is fine -- but it's almost more than the fp -- I think you have a rug?

Do you really need drapes in a play room?

Oh what - mine was for chair fabric!

do solid rust textured fabric on the chaise......maybe leather furniture in Carmel color for the two chairs....with the bold pattern fabric as accent pillow on chaise...I would not do that bold pattern on any large piece of furniture...might really start looking like a time warp from the 1960's....leather would help give it more of a modern vibe....that bold print pattern is going to really fight with the fireplace stone:(...,looks like a good size room to me...why a chaise? Any smaller more mid century sofa would fit in your space with 2 accent chairs...not sure you made the right choices??

I have to agree w/Home Interiors. I was thinking exactly the same. Not digging the patchwork print at all. What style are the chairs and the chaise?

Frankly, aside from several very comfortable bar stool type chairs, I don't see furniture in this space per se. Need a nice pool stick rack, a tall table with 4 upholstered oversized bar stools. Leather all. Maybe some small shelves off the stairway to set a drink while playing shuffleboard. That's it. Too small a space for other furniture IMO.

Wow I think that room looks very large??? What are the measurements so we can really give you better advice on how to complete the space.

I was wondering who "Wharton" was? lol Auto correct strikes again. I think. What are the measurements. I am guessing that the windows are about 42" wide x 4= 14' plus another 4' where that cart on the left is plus a little bit more so I'm guessing 16-18' long, but probably only about 13' wide. So, with that pool table and the room you need for play around it, I don't think there is that much space left between the "play" space and the fireplace, but I could be guessing wrong. Amanda, can you provide room measurements please? It would help us give you better input. Beautiful room, and surely lots of fun to be had there with those "toys"!

I agree with Home Interior with Ease; leather would add a modern element to the space, while contributing to the robust framework.

Thank you for the comments. The space is approximately 100" from the hearth to the pool table and 140" from wall to window. I like the idea of carmel color leather, and I am going to cancel the order and take another look at the fabric choices. Here is a picture of the furniture, but with different fabrics.

I would take some blue painter tape and tape a 84" x 40" sofa size (or size of one you like) on the floor of the space. That is only about 8'-4" x 11'-9" If you leave about 3' from the pool table for space to play with que, now you only have 5'-4", so I just don't see that sofa and chair fitting there. Maybe I'm missing something, but possibly a couple leather benches or stools might be all you can do there. I'm not trying to be a buzz kill, just realistic about what can fit and still have space. Tape it out to make sure and measure. Maybe a couple club type leather chairs? Just depends on how you see using "sit down" area in this space. Hope this info helps you avoid a mistake.

Maybe two chairs facing each other in front of fireplace with an ottoman between? Just thinking here.

Flo we just crossed our posts...great minds think alike:))Ok so about 8x11 area..not sure about a chaise and 2 chairs...I would do two big chairs facing each other in front of fireplace with a ottoman between them. Something like this...I think Carmel leather would be great maybe a pattern ottoman would be awesome.

Two chairs facing each other would allow some "observers" for the competitive games as well and ability to duck a que!

Same colors in my LR! Did two custom chairs similar to your pattern. Loved them for a week, hated them for years, finally replaced with a couple linen wing chairs. Respondents are right...save patterns for accent. texture for large pieces. Lovely room.
