This is a great layout Beverly, but I really don't need to dedicate that much space to an actual office. Really just need a desk in the area so I can have a place to sort out bills and keep my laptop.

Here's what I suggest. You will probably want to get smaller scaled furniture. The couch I am showing is 66"w which is more of a loveseat. You might also consider swivel chairs so those could be turned toward the tv. If you need a three-seater you could flip flop it with the chairs and put the tv where I am showing the desk and bookcases but that means getting a large tv. The issue is trying to maintain a 3'w walkway where the wall juts into the room. Made the assumption that the door opposite the fireplace was the front door so I set that up as kind of a mud room. Suggest taping outlines of the furniture on the floor before you go shopping so you know what sizes will work.
