Planting Advice?

I've learned to plant tomato seedlings deep, up to the bottom leaves to encourage more root growth, and it works well. Can I do the same with a chilli seedling? (Just coming into summer here in Oz.)

I have a very healthy 8" Trinidad Scorpian Butch T that's ready to go into the ground, and just wondered...

If the stem is not yet lignified, it may just grow some root. Conversely, I've buried pepper stems on a few occasions where there was not much root growth, but no harm was done either. Doing the same to my okra killed it though! Unless your seedling is particularly spindly/lanky, I'd just transplant it at the same depth as it is now. Given a good environment, it'll grow all the root it needs.
