Help me paint my kitchen!

Our living room is Sherwin Williams Dovetail Grey. I love grey but should I put grey in the kitchen? Keeping cabinets Linen, changing hardware to aged bronze, and the paint now is a blue tint primer only. dont want blue! Our kitchen is small, with one window with natural light. I want to keep kitchen bright, as to not visually shrink space. Help? Color suggestions??

I think your kitchen is lovely. Why not try a warm cream-coloured paint that has a bit of a taupe undertone? The addition of a roman blind and some potted herbs in your window would be great. If there is room, I would instal a bulletin board covered in same fabric (stripe) as the roman blind. DIY bulletin board - paint an old picture frame black and add backing etc. then you could declutter fridge surface and still enjoy photos/pictures etc. if possible, paint your kitchen chairs/stools black to match dining chairs. A small coir or sisal rug in front of the sink would be great too. Good luck!

Love everything about your Kitchen! How about a nice sage, grey-green or pear green color for the kitchen. The cabinets have a yellow tint to them and I think the green color would enhance the cabinets, backsplash, countertops and floor even more. These colors will also keep the kitchen bright since you have the one window.

I considered a light sage green or Light French Grey from Sherwin Williams...but I think I need to re-primer with white...because I tested the light French grey but it still looks blue. Will white primer make a difference? Any suggestions?

Try Farrow & Ball French Gray - beautiful. You can also put a glaze over it to add a slight distressed look.

We just did our kitchen & love the color. It is Behr Premium (which covers anything) in a Tibetan Orange - which I think would look great in your kitchen. It's a comfortable, warm color yet full of life!

And yes, primer over a paint color makes a big difference. It keeps the old color from coming through, so that the new color is the only color you see.

Anyadams, thanks for the beautiful color recommendation! I got a match of the Farrow & Ball color today. I've painted a section to test it out & patiently waiting to see how it turns out :)

Well, your Dovetail gray is pretty, it would go with the kitchen cabinets too. But I suggest a Green. To go with the gray, I would say a darker bluish green like SW 7060 Attitude Gray (it's really a green). It would go well with your cabinets. AND with the gray in the living room. Or BM 1580 Intrigue.

Thanks Helga, ill check those colors out. My Farrow & Ball French Gray sample has dried and I'm thinking it may be greener then I want.

I agree with sage or olive green. It would look awesome with the cabinet color. Maybe even try. pale /soft blue...good luck!

Aqua would look great with your cabinets & the gray in the other room if you would like to have something different than cookie cutter colors. lol Or a lemony yellow. Teal would add richness and drama. Coral too.

I can't quite tell the colours in your tiled splash back. Any colours in there to work with?
Is a sky light an option if you only have the one window?

Your cabinets knobs style are fine, I would spray paint them in a oiled bronze. They sell it at Home Depot. I have used it on handles,knobs & lite fixtures for a totally new look.

Solar light tubes are wonderful and only need 12"s of space at minimum. I don't really think your kitchen feels that dark though in the photos.

There's another Farrow and Ball paint with the delightful name of Mouse's Back - taupe-y, or go warmer with Smoked trout ( love their names). I think they would blend with your tile and counter colors and not make the wall look chopped up.

your cabinets, backsplash, countertops and flooring is all so close to the same color, painting walls a teal or peach would give some contrast and go beautifully with the other room's gray. just look at your pictures and see the color of the dishtowels and pots in your kitchen - how pretty! Try taping a couple of your green/teal dishtowels to the wall and see how it looks.

I really lie neutrals, French country, but with a contemporary edge...I really don't want any green, although the light sage green I've sampled (farrow & ball French gray) does compliment the tile backsplash. Oil rubbed bronze cup pulls are on their way....maybe a greige??

Country french designs often use a bright french blue or reds which would look nice with your cabinets going towards a bistro look for that modern edge to it.
