All great suggestions. The curtains are required for the glare and the desk will have to stay where it is. I could remove the console table but I would need a floor lamp for better light when I'm working at night.

Get a more stylish office chair that's not black.
Where you have the console you could replace it with a round table ,armchair and lamp. A place to comfortably go over paperwork or read a book.
I would remove things on top of furniture. Fake plants look just like dead plants ,add nothing. Great room with lots of possibilities.

In place of the ceiling fan could you hang a really nice chandelier?

Ha...not much left. Just packed them up to go back. Back to an even more blank slate. I like not having the table there. Feels like I have so much more room in my little office.

Find a nice kidney shaped table so you can face more of the room when you are working. Put your monitor on it. Get lamp so you can both see at night and the look from outside is pleasing. Then find a compact guest chair. Get a good desk chair that fits you so you can be comfortable and have good back support. BTW i have used that picture grouping and it is so beautiful. They are best grouped in the four pieces together. You probably were thinking of separate them going up stsirs. Try locating spot about halfway up stairs and hang as a group. You will like that look.

Have you covered your windows with some of the high tech UV film to help with the glare? Good film and adjusted blinds may do it. The curtains are too heavy, too short and are weighing the room down. Consider having someone use them to make roman shades to replace the blinds. You'll get their glare blocking value without their decorative design hampering.

I really like the curtains. I had a taupe color in here before and it just felt blah.

Unfortunately, I can't remove a panel. Need 6 to cover the three windows. Thoughts on this look? I think it's getting there! Colors look a little funny at night oh my camera, and I'll switch out that pillow on the chair.

I think this arrangement looks great! Looks inviting and comfy;) The lamp might be a tad large tho. Try sitting in the chair and see if the bulb is glaring in your eye.
