I like your layout. Two questions: Where do you want to put the microwave if it's not there? What are you using the cabinets for by the bar, where the drink fridge is? A breakfast or bar area maybe? Or just additional storage.

I like the layout, but did you plan to have all of them ceiling height? If you varied the height, it would ad some nice interest.

I like this. It works around your column/change in width nicely, with an appealing beverage center toward the dining room.

I personally would never want a microwave that low. Agree that a trash pull-out would serve you wall. Could you just use a countertop microwave, in that corner by the pantry? Otherwise, maybe substitute the top of your pantry cabinets for a microwave cabinet and shorter cabinet above, so that it can have its own shelf out of your way a bit? (You can still use a counter MW for this, as they make cabinets with MW openings...)

If your pantry is large enough (or depending on how you've designed it), you might almost be able to put the microwave in there in an appliance garage-type context.

Emily Jowers - I would put a small counter microwave on the counter left of the pantry or make room in the pantry for a microwave (not built in). Base cabinets by the bar will be sort of a combo of small appliance storage or miscellaneous bar things. Glass wall cabinets for the glassware etc.

acm- that was my thought... counter microwave or make room in the pantry. If I had room I would put a built in one as your examples, but I am trying to get as much pantry space as possible.

How do you guys feel about the angle where the peninsula goes out for bar stools and angles in by the bar area? I don't see any other way around that just thought I'd ask. If we put fridge and cabinet flush with amount of overhang needed for stools they would come out to far by passed the window.

I think it's fine, as long as there's space between dining table and stools, etc.

ok good thank you!. I think I should have enough space. I am planning on putting in bench seats and a round table which should nudge the nook further back from that area.

I think it would be a shame to put a microwave on the countertop in a new kitchen.

I agree. I think we will most likely get a smaller microwave and put it in pantry out of the way. We are not heavy micro users so I think I will be able to live with that

Just make sure there is countertop handy to microwave so you can place things coming out or going into the microwave.

One last question...do you think the refrigerator should be swapped where the pantry is?
my kitchen now in real life has the fridge where the pantry is in the rendering. The kd moved fridge to open up that corner to the right of oven counter. Said it opened up the space a little. I agree visually but wondering what the best thing to do is.

One last question for you...considering moving the micro, are you sure about the sink in the peninsula rather than under the windows?

We explored that option, which I like, but we were also thinking of altering the window height since they are short in height. We think we have opted against both to save money and not have to fix the exterior after enlarging window. We also felt like it would reduce our wall cabinet space and broke each box into different areas. Probably overthinking that though.

I think the sink is better in the peninsula since you don't lose upper storage. And the fridge is in a good spot. That way when people walk into kitchen and inevitably open the fridge, they won't be quite as in your way.
