Hello there, since your home style is somewhat European on the exterior, I'd recommend a dark grey or black shingle.

As far as updating the exterior itself I'd recommend considering painting the brick or at least some parts of it (budget willing). This will update the look. A few potted plants on the porch will bring some color and vibrancy and is cheap too.The wall sconces blend in to the brick and I'm not sure if they are copper, but maybe paint them black which will make them stand out (if it's in the budget of course). IMO, a mansard roof looks top-heavy in a dark color. I would try a color closer to the darker stone of the exterior walls and use a darker color on the door. Over your door, the golden colored rectangle (whatever it is) is drawing the eye up. Can that be changed? A pair of colorful flowering plants in pots would accentuate the entry.

A window will be installed there, that is actually a piece of wood placed temporarily. The darkest stone is a light brown, would that work? Agree potted plants on both sides of the door would be a must.
