Pavers and drive way

Hello All
We live in New England.... think snow!
My builder is leaving pavers almost 5 feet away from drive way?!!.
He says the snow plow will dislodge the bricks if its close to the drive way. He plans to put asphalt between them and I don't like the idea.
I am not convinced.
Iam paying out of pocket for this.
Is he right? Can I have pavers abutting the drive way?

Pavers in front of the house and they meet the driveway to the attached garage.

I would do a concrete "apron" between street and main driveway and do an "insert" in the concrete part with a section of pavers. that way the snow machine can slide over the concrete and the pavers will be protected and locked in.
