A "ductless" stove vent is basically just recirculating the air back into the room -- the degree to which smells and gas byproducts are removed is dependent on the quality and upkeep of the filter. Most people consider this a poor substitute for a system that actually removes the vented air from the room.

Ductless range venting is an oxymoron. It just blows hot greasy air back onto you, and your cabinets, and home furnishings, and walls. Cut a hole in the roof and get rid of yuck. It paint a big deal with the right contractor.

Susie: I agree with Sophie. When it come to ductless, very few people clean the filters regularly and very rarely replace them. Can you go up to duct out the hood? Through the attic & out the roof might be a good option.

I think much depends how and WHAT you cook. There's nothing wrong with a good recirculating hood with a well maintained filter........unless your nightly meal is seared trout. For those who use a cook top for pasta , a quick saute of chicken breasts sixty percent of the time? Perfectly fine. I've had one for years due to necessity and no option. My cupboards are white, and grease is not an issue. ........but yes, I do replace the filter. Fish goes outside, or is enjoyed at the restaurant.
