That limb somehow got sunburned but lived to tell us about the importance of getting this used to full sun gradually. Yes, you can cut that limb off and make two cuttings (or more, depending on your home slice abilities), but it's best to wait until Spring for that.

thanks for a quick reply, im in New Zealand, it's our first month of summer here and was thinking about making the new cutting now to get the benefit of the summer for the new cuts, thoughts on doing it in summer or waiting until next spring? Interesting mention about sun exposure, looking for spots around the house to keep these new cactis around, i have a spot that get's early morning sun and stays there until late evening sun, another spot that get's direct sunlight only 12pm up to 6pm. And another spot that's got heavy growth that has filter light pretty much all day long with short instances of direct sunlight. Hard to find day/night cycles if you can shead any 'light' on these questions would be legend. Thanks in advance and for your help previously.

Oh, no, I assumed incorrectly that you were in the Northern Hemisphere. Now's the time to do it, and keep the cuttings as warm as you can bottom-heat wise, and enough daily misting, you'll have roots in two weeks. As much sun as you can, but even half-sun for these is OK. But get them used to more sun gradually. If you're in a warmish place, they'd do best in the ground (crazy growth there). As long as it doesn't get much below 3C, and even a little lower, the plant's more healthy and faster-growing PIG'd.

You do t have to cut it. It adds character and won't hurt the plant at all.Great looking plant!!!
