But the roller skates hung around forever in a cupboard in the parents garage until someone realized they were total rust, no longer had the key for tightening on the shoes, and the horse?? When I am out for a walk and watch a guy gliding buy on his skateboard with his urethane wheels that are nearly silent, I think back at the crappy clay wheels I had as a kid that were as loud as a train and you could feel every piece of dirt on the road.

I loved this 12 inch kitchen with running water and working sink, in the early 60's. Little did I know that working with life-sized sink would not be much fun at all.

He's the guy in front. The other two are from donations to Careflight, a group that flies patients from remote and difficult areas into mainstream hospitals. But Teddy's the king of the trio.

I kept several of our two kids' toys. Our son is now 33 and was given a really nice wooden train set when he was a toddler. I took it out of storage, and our almost 2-year-old grandson simply loves it. He pulled it around our house all day long this week, including many trips to the Christmas tree. Sorry...can't seem to flip the photo upright.

I still have quite a few things from my childhood. Bouncy horse, (her name is ginger, and she is 54 years old!) desk, table and chairs, dolls, teddy bear and books. I also have 2 little white aprons that we used when we played restaurant at my grandma's house, and my favorite green purse that she had for me to play with. A cat puzzle is framed in my dinning room, it is from my other grandparents house. But my favorite thing is my younger brothers peddle fire engine. It's old and a bit rustic, kind of like he was. He passed away 5 years ago, it reminds me of him every time I see it in my living room!

Yes, I did .... Hot Wheels cars mainly from the first 4 years .... 1968-72. Several hundred of them. The best ones are on display here.

This is a mirrored and lighted cabinet that I built between wall studs and there is another off to the left to match it. Glass shelves and a full glass door covering them. This is in the hallway, and took a non-descript area and made it a place where most folks have to stop and take a look.

My mother, regrettably, donated toys as soon as I outgrew them.

I wish I still had them as they would probably be worth a lot of money today.

Have my Nancy Drew books and matchbox cars. Parents sold my Barbies and all my other toys at a garage sale years ago while I was away in college. Don't really miss the other toys but I would have liked to sell the Barbies to a collector for more than the 25 cents they got for the Barbies.

I kept my daughter's Care Bears for 36 years; she has them displayed in an antique jelly cabinet in her family room.

I too still have my Nancy Drew books, a Chatty Baby with her bangs cut to 1/4 inch by an aspiring 4yr old hair dresser and a huge doll house I got for my 6th Christmas. I gave birth to boys so hope to someday have a granddaughter who will enjoy the doll house as much as I did.

I saved all their books because we had a wonderful children's collection from England and the US, and then Hurricane Katrina took care of that. Many of the books were collector's items and can never be replaced, we all try never to think about it. My childhood toys, brought from the UK and their childhood toys are gone. There is a lesson for us to learn I am sure but what I don't know.

I only have a couple of things. I'm glad I took some books I cherished from my childhood and baby book while at my parents home (I knew I wouldn't see these again). Sadly, the box containing my dolls was lost during a move decades ago. Once in a while, I think about them, hoping some needy child got them and appreciated them. I still hope they'll find their way back to me one day, especially the ones my grandfather gave me--I miss those the most. : (

I have a doll that my Dad purchased for me in Paris towards the end of WWll. It has been restored, out of necessity, but glad I have it to pass on to my youngest granddaughter.

My original Barbie in the original case with original clothes, etc, and with her head wrapped in cellophane. I know, scary right? Needless to say we have 4 grown boys, no daughters and no grandchildren yet. Big joke with the boys is who can deliver that grand-daughter first. Ha!

I have books from my childhood, including a set of Cherry Ames and Richard Haliburton's Complete Book of Marvels, which inspired a trip to Egypt with my sister, many years later. I also have a few precious books that belonged to my mother and late mother-in-law when they were children (Old Mother West Wind, an illustrated Black Beauty...) I kept all of our son's childhood books and many of his toys...especially the classics (Cootie Bug, Tinker Toys, Lamb Chop, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel...) Now our 4-year-old grandson is enjoying them, recently joined by our 6-month-old granddaughter. Love the sweet memories that come when watching them play with their daddy's toys, and remembering when my siblings and I played with the '50's version of these same toys!

Yes. My mom saved my toys. It was awesome when I had little girls. As they became age appropriate they inherited the toys. Pull phone with googly eyes, baby doll bed, baby high chair, baby carriage, airport set (coolest ever) foldable Sunshine family doll house and bike built for two, a tremendous paper doll collection, games, outdoor toys. When friends came over they thought we had the best toys ever and some cried when they had to leave. Croquet is a still a big hit.

Okay the best part is my mom kept this little doll bed for aprox 10 inch little baby doll (vs life size baby dolls). It had a little white woven basket canopy you could tilt to the back or front, a pink pad, pillow, and blanket with a tiny ruffle. When I had my second she was 6.5 weeks premature and when I brought her home she weighed 4 lb 12 oz. She was so tiny I was terrified to sleep with her or put her in the basinet. She could roll into the little crack around the bottom pad and be lost she was so little. We put her in that baby doll bed. Her big sister was still in the crib and we would lift the little dolly bed into the crib for her to kiss her good night. So sweet. Then we put the doll bed inside the basinet beside my bed.

Now she is a tall, athletic college rower. Go figure. We still have the bed in the attic waiting for the next playdate.

I still have my stuffed black dog "Who-who". The music box still works, he plays "How Much Is That Doggy in the Window?" I was about three when I picked him out. He lives on a shelf in my study with a few stuffed animals from my adult years.

I have so many! From dolls that were my mom and aunts, (over 100years old now!) I have several from my childhood including Barbie and Ginny dolls. I saved tons of my kids toys and now my 4 grandchildren have an Aladdin's cave of treasures.

I saved a lot of my Barbie collection from the 1960-1970 era. I was one of those kids that kept all the parts and accessories very organized and tidy. Still have complete outfits, etc. Since we were unable to find the degree of quality we desired in furnishings for our dolls, my friends and I made a ton of stuff. Great memories and so much fun! (I should have went to work for Mattel!)
