I had all my trim, doors and crown painted in simply white a few years ago. Also had the vanity in one of my secondary bathrooms painted simply white last year. In my house/light I don't see any yellow. I like to describe it as a bright, but not stark, white. Very happy with it and would use it again.

Simply White is very nice, not chilly bright white, but softer. Not yellow. It was my second choice for kitchen cabinets, but I went slightly creamier.

I'm having dining chairs done as well and might go creamier than Simply White. I have Cloud White now and just might use again...but keeping options open:)

White dove highly recommend at paint store. It sadly just doesn't work on my room..

Simply White was too stark for me, so we switched to Mascarpone and LOVE it. It's creamier for sure, but against our yellow walls (Weston Flax), it looks completely white rather than a yellowed-white. A pleasant, not-stark, white. It looks great with our natural oak floors and medium oak cabinets. We plan to use it in the rest of the house.

We wanted even creamier for the wainscoting in the dining room, so went with Vanilla Ice Cream for the trim. That's definitely yellow-tinged.

pippiep, I LOVE Mascarpone! However, it's a little too yellow undertone with the bedding I'm using:(

I think I'm now torn between Simply White and Snowfall White.

I do love the crispness of Chantilly Lace, but think it's just going to be too stark.

I need wine:)

My son who sells BM says Chantilly Lace is their whitest white. I love Simply White myself. Not yellow at all.

We just had two bedrooms (in the basement) painted Chantilly Lace.

There are two windows in each bedroom, one faces east and north, the other west and north, it does not look stark white in either room. I mean not even close.

The bedrooms also have wood closets, wood window trim, and wood wall ledges going all around the room.

I think the lighting makes the biggest difference

I'm agonizing between Simply White, Snowfall White and Chantilly Lace!

I used Simply White on the kitchen cabinets and trim in our new home and I agree that it is a very nice, non-yellowy white. Don't have experience with the other whites you are considering but can say I really love Simply White for it's soft, clean white-ness.

I realize this is an old post but I'll chime in anyway for future readers.

I've used both cotton balls and White Dove. Either could have been used in my bathroom - I was trying to match it up with my old 1920's subway tile because I didn't want my walls above the tile (the tile has a black border) to look color blocked. I want my walls to blend with the tile for a cleaner look.

I put the swatches next to the subway tile. My hubby agreed we could go either way. I decided to go with White Dove - it has more grey in it and a lower LRV which is perfect in my west facing bathroom. Cotton balls, equally pretty, has a LRV of I think 90 so it would have been considerably brighter, not so great in an already sunny room, I think it would have been too bright. Im happy I went with White Dove in that room. It's a pretty, clean but not stark white.

But in my north facing bedroom, we had the original dull white ceiling color that came with the house. It looked really drab. I brightened it up with cotton balls and I LOVE it in my otherwise dark north facing master bedroom. I paired it with BM AF-Slip and it's so clean and bright and airy now. What a difference!

So when choosing a white keep in mind which direction your room faces and pay attention to the LRV. cotton balls is great for brightening up a dark space or north facing room, and I'm getting ready to use it in a north facing mud room as well. I already love the test swatches and I've no worries that the space will look drab like some whites can go.

This is so timely for me, thank you for posting! The back of my house gets a lot of light and I am in love with white dove. Maybe before I paint some front rooms I should try a few more samples. I was thinking of trying white dove everywhere, but I have cotton balls and a few other quarts I could try in the DR

Lisa, I am just now seeing this as I am researching whether to use Chantilly Lace or Simply White for our kitchen cabinets. I like the bright white of Chantilly Lace but don't know if it will be too stark for cabinets. I also like Simply White but I am afraid it might have too much of a green tone for me. What color did you pick and are you happy with it? Thank you!

I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen and will have a farmhouse sink, white subway tiles on my cooktop backsplash, and a white quartz marble look-a-like on my countertops. I'm trying to pick a white for my cabinets and trim. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

I went with Simply White. I do really like it. In most lights it looks white, in the evenings it can look just a little bit cream colored. I too am getting white subway tile and a white with grey swirl quartz countertop. I hope I still like the Simply White once that is done. In retrospect, I probably should have painted the cabinets last. I do think I will still like them though. Good luck!

This is indeed an old thread, but I just realized I never answered the OP's question to me. I went with BM Cloud White and I would choose it again. I prefer a creamier white.

Hello, I am new on this feed. I was all set to go with Simply White vs the Pure white the neighbors chose, it looks too stark. I had a panel painted and during the day it is the perfect white, but in the evening I see slight creamy yellow. I'm now wondering if I want to see yellow at all.

Advise please. Chantilly lace?

Chantilly lace is a pure white next to Carrara marble, so it’s cooler but not gray. I don’t have a good picture yet of my cabinets/trim but if I get one today, I’ll post so you can get an idea.

That would be awesome. I love Simply White, yet in certain lighting the creamy color looks a little creamy yellow.

I went to our house yesterday and everything is covered in plastic and taped so I didn’t get a picture. I’d get a sample of the Chantilly lace and bm snowfall white if possible to try it in person. I think both were pretty pure white to me. Here’s a pic of BM Decorator’s White in someone else’s house (south/west facing room). It’s too hard to make that big of a decision without seeing in person.

Oh I wish that was my house! That was another house my contractor did. Yes, amazing la cornue range and blue veined quartzite or marble -i don’t remember. And a beautiful view overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

I may be replying to an old post...having a white dilemma! Moving to a new home soon, and I need to choose a white for the painter soon! I used BM Cotton Balls in my current home in 2 bedrooms, one is north facing and the other is south facing. worked well...nice and bright but not stark, however the hallway to the rooms look beige, which I am not fond of. New home has both north and south exposures + a hallway without a lot of light. Considering Simply White. Second question...the baseboards are lovely and very high, I would like them to remain a feature, which white to choose for trim? Your comments are appreciated!!!

BM capitol white for the walls; paint chip is in the Williamsburg collection card. Perfect creamy white, not stark, no undertones and great for every room exposure (N,S,E,W). Recommended here; people ask me the color since it looks good regardless of time of day.

This is an old post - but people are always thinking about off-whites. I think I’ll go for BM Cotton Balls for a north-facing suite (bedroom with living space and small kitchenette). Thoughts? How “yellow” is cotton balls? Is there any pink hint in it? (Trying to steer clear of pink)

I just painted my home office with BM cotton balls and it’s really yellow. North facing room with white baseboards, white crown molding and natural oak floors. What color should I paint the crown mouldings and baseboards to tone down the yellow contrast? Or do I repaint the walls Simply white?
