Need Help with Guest Room

I moved our master bedroom from the lower level of our rustic contemporary home to the loft area and want to convert this room to a guest suite. I decided to convert the two master bedroom closets to cubbies for the full size beds. I have many couples to sleep with the upcoming weddings and thought this would give dual couples some privacy sleeping together in the guest room. I'm going to remove the closet rods but was looking for some ideas on what to do with the cubbies. Add a sconce (there is a light bulb with a string on the inside of these closets) or a shelf or frame it out in wood? I plan on making these comforters matching. Would love your opinions !

I'm so sorry, but as a couple, I would sell my first born child for a hotel room or the living room floor,......before I'd sleep with another couple that close to me. For kids?? fine! Leave the darn shelf, give them a flashlight and put some great books up there!

I'm really sorry, but I think this is odd. I would turn closets back into closets and use for off-season storage. The only way I see this working is as a kid's bunk room, but just for small kids.

Not good ..would not want to sleep with another couple in the same room !

I've managed a vacation rental property for 15 years and the loft bedroom has two beds. I'm sure multiple couples have shared it and I've never had a complaint. However, for a private home, how many times are you going to have enough guests for both beds to be occupied? I wouldn't do it for a one-off event like a wedding, or are you hosting "weddings?"

I agree, two couples might not be as enthusiastic about the arrangement but a group of cousins or teenagers, great! Is the room too small to have both beds in the room? I ask cause the beds seem so close together, which for me is the strangest part.

If for kids, then I would paint or wallpaper the inside (after removing rod). Mount two sconces in each cubby and call it good....along with the matching comforters that you are already planning.

Hotels typically offer 2 queen bed - rooms. It's done all the time.

I run a B&B. Two women traveling together. A family with little kids or one big kid. People often ask for two beds in one room.

As a younger traveler, I slept in a room of two beds with three other people lots of times. It's a great way to travel on a budget.

Assuming this is a vacation rental house, what will your guests do with their hanging clothes?

This is a great idea. As far as using the closets, you can always get an armoire or two for guests. The most important items are luxurious bedding, lighting and to feel welcomed.

I have been looking at alcove beds recently (I am a diehard fan of Murphy beds). Here are some pics:

^ ^ ^ This one is my favorite with the stripe walls and curtain panels

^ ^ ^ Consider a bookcase turned on end at the foot of the bed for towels, extra pillows and blankets, basket of soap, handcreams, extra toothbrushes, etc.

^ ^ ^ Wallpaper behind and embellished trim

^ ^ ^ Wall sconces and curved alcove

Bursts of color in a white crisp room

Thank you everyone, it really helped. Most of the comments were about couple sleeping. My 'couples' are my grown kids, so sleeping in a room together isn't too awkward. The other wall in this room has a long 15 ft water baseboard heater and my guest complained about how hot the beds got. I also had my college gals come to Colorado and I slept four of them in this big room. I have two other guest rooms on this lower level so most often I use the large queen bed guest suite first before I overflow. My kids will soon be adding grandchildren to this will be perfect for family sleeping. Love the pictures.
