Do you want to make the space brighter? I'm assuming that the beige you selected was from the striping in the tiles?

Too contrasting isn't a bad thing - are you sure you were just not used to it yet since it's such a drastic change?

Yes wanted to make it brighter, and yes it was from the striping in the tiles. I will take a picture tonight so you can see the difference. I leave it on for a few weeks so i can get used to it, but it still seems off to me.

What is the flooring?

Color match the red hue in the tiles ;) Paint the ceiling beige.

The flooring is red tile, same as bottom half of wall.

Margo's suggestion is great. If you choose to leave the beige on the walls, please paint the ceiling the same color.

I am the other homeowner. Any other ideas for a fun and bright/fresh look? We seriously need help. We wanted some contrast in the room other than the same red as the tile. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

Powder puff pink on the orange side, like SW 6624, Peach Blossom. Match the reddish tile on a color card, then pick the lightest color on the card.

Try shiny black.

If you got your beige from the striping on the wall, you might try a shade or 2 darker with some more gold in it. I also like the idea of doing pink.

With black toilet and sink, the color of the tiles/trim, your powder room is the perfect spot for wallpaper. I think a one color paint will never work. I also suggest you consider painting the ceiling a flat black. The white is too stark.

Judy has a point - really lux wallpaper is definitely coming back. I don't know that I can agree with a black ceiling in a small room though.

I wouldn't worry about brightening it. You have a very bold tile, so go with it and let the room be dramatic. You're for sure gonna have to do away with the white ceiling, though. That's where there's too much contrast.

With a dark wallpaper, what do you do with the ceiling?

Usually paint it a gray or beige to match something else in the room. You could probably even use the same color as those red tiles. The issue is that a dark ceiling looks like a low ceiling, so if the ceiling and walls are dark, it gets claustrophobic. You'll want to keep to pale neutrals if you do dark wallpaper. Or if it's a print, you might be able to take a light accent color from that for the ceiling.

This is the color that we painted it when trying to match the accents from the tile, but it didn't really match the color we choose from the paint swatches. Either way it looks way to bright, like it's missing something. Going to get some Wall paper samples to see if that helps dress it up or some darker paint.

It's probably the lighting of the picture, but that looks like white white, especially comparing to the streaks of cream/beige in the tile and the ceiling. I can see why you weren't happy.

If you go with black wallpaper, most of these would also work really well on the ceiling.
