The length you have to work with is a little tight considering you need room for the faucets. The tubs are available in 48", 54", and 57" and I am assuming you are talking about claw foot tubs?

I know it'll be tight, but I've seen so many options and I just didn't know what my maximum size should be. I want it to be proportionate and I understand that room should be allowed for cleaning and a faucet. Would extra room be necessary if i used a wall mounted faucet? I've looked at both the claw foot tubs, I've also seen some nice clean more modern ones.

I just checked out the link sent, thanks, I like it. I notice the faucet is off the back wall, but other plumbing (drain, overflow?) takes up room as well, h ow much space should I leave available for plumbing?

The drain should be within the footprint of the tub. The faucet can be mounted on the wall, but I think it looks better attached to the tub.
