We bought our first house in the 70's. It had chocolate brown shag carpet, a beige sectional with an amber-shaded floor lamp that arched over the back. The kitchen had orange geometric ”floral" wallpaper with harvest gold appliances. Having lived through that the first time, I would never want to recreate it but best of luck to you if that's what you want.

Hmackling.... also look for decor online, Etsy, etc. Sophie, a neighbor of mine many years ago (older couple ) "redecorated " almost their entire house a la pic #2.... faux brick everywhere , orange, avocado etc.

In any event, I think Hmackling 's idea fun for a basement. I see fun parties there, 70's disco playing.

Or, the ever populate wall mural of an outdoor scene was huge.

Thanks, Bailey and Sophie for entering into the spirit of the thing. I view this orange loveseat as a design challenge. I've had it in tasteful gray surroundings in the past but now I'm ready to take it in a different direction. Like you pointed out, it's just intended to be fun.

I love what I'm seeing on wallpaperfromthe70s.com; very glamorous. I see in their blog that they address the issue of what to do with the other three walls.

Sophie, these sample photos are awesome. I love the saturated color and the patterns. They make my eyes burn a little, but that's what I want. Now I just need to figure out how to wrap the wallpaper up onto the ceiling like pic #1...

Or, the obligatory painted on stripe otif would be easy to DIY.

But only with the proper shag carpeting.

Just wanted to say I love pairing orange with turquoise. I'll think on your room while I'm working today and come back with some ideas later. Could you take some pics or the room so we can see what you're working with?

It's a blank slate - white painted block walls, one harsh overhead bulb. DH suggested track lighting to fit with the 70's theme.
