OVER HEAD DOOR .. No Power

I have two older Over Head door Oddesy Model 600 CDC/B 1/2 hp openers. One, at times would stick since I had the house...10 years. I'd lube and clean with mixed results. It seemed worse the last few months except when it got VERY cold out. Anyway, on and off the last few weeks, it sounded a bit strange when closing or opening...like a vibration maybe, hard to describe. To be honest I have been preparing myself for replacement.

Today, my keypad outside the garage did not work...door would not open/close. Next I tried the remote in my car...again, nothing. Next I tried the wired pad on the wall in the garage...again nothing...almost like no power getting to motor...or motor is dead. Is there anything I can do / try before having OD come out?

There is power to the outlet the opener is plugged into. I can tell because the light in the opener DOES work. Further the learn code button lights when I press it.

The eyes are lit, one red, one green. When I wave my hand in front of the green one, the red one goes on and off.

The door is not restricted...once manually released it opens and closes fine.

The springs do not seem broke.

Its as though no power is going to the opener...or the motor died, a fuse in it blew...not sure....

Well, I bought a new OD 1000 3/4 belt drive model and had it installed. For anyone interested, they said it may have been a board...who knows, likely not worth fixing at its age. Then again, the new one does not look as 'solid' as the old one did.

For those interested in cost, it was $361 installed. It took the tech about an hour. It came with one remote. Fortunately he was able to reprogram my old keypad and old remotes...otherwise they would have sold them to me for $30 a piece...for the remotes anyway...not sure about the keypad. Personally I do not like the new remotes. They are very small, its hard to differentiate between the buttons and my old remote happened to have a led flashlight built in! Progress I guess. I am just glad the old ones worked! I did have to re-program my wife's remote when she got home last night...very simple, no issue.

The tech also replaced a section of vinyl stripping (no cost) he believed had been causing my door stick issue....my old one was somehow filled with gunk. We'll see I guess...

I understand the same opener is sold at HD under the Genie name. In fact it comes with 2 of those little remotes and a keypad. Additional remotes are $19 each. The HD price is $190. HD charges $125 to install it.

I am pretty handy and likely could have installed it myself HOWEVER...what he did in an hour would have likely taken me 4. Further I have a better feeling having them install it over myself or HD....I am more comfortable it was set up and adjusted correctly. Well worth the extra $$$ to me and its nice to see a local small company still in business! However, you can save a bit if you do it all yourself.

You probably lost the capacitor that helps the motor get enough energy to start. These are replaceable plug and play, and are between 10 and 20 dollars usually. If the opener light comes on and it hums for a second and nothing happens its a symptom. Look for the other to go soon, if you sourced the machines from the same place at the same time the part batches will be the same usually.
