how do I make this family room warm,cosy,inviting,with storage and have a place to display show pieces.

First, remove the tiny rug, the cornered cabinet and the short drapes. Don't bring them back. Pack up all the little stuff on top of furniture. If all of your seats recline, you have no need of the coffee table because it will interfere with the reclined seats and won't be near any of them to be useful. Sell it on Craig's List and use the $$ to buy some end tables for each end of the sofa (should arrive within 1" of its arms.) Move the large sofa and end tables to the window side of the space. Add a lamp to each end table (lamp and table should measure a total of 58-64" from the floor.) Fill the large wall with bookcases or display cabinetry for the items you want to show. Be careful to style the shelves with 1/3 books (lying, standing, propping, lifting) 1/3 large pieces of decor or your "display show pieces," and 1/3 open space. If an item is too small to be identified from across the room, don't use it in the cabinets. The closer the seating is to each other the more cozy and intimate the room will seem. If you'll remove the blinds in favor of some warmer fabric or fiber shades, you can add stationary floor to ceiling drapes at the ends of all the windows. Here's the way drapes should be done.

Pictures are very, hard to see much. Please add some brighter ones here in the comments. Is furniture staying? If so are the 2 smaller pieces 1 or 2 seaters?

Everything deco said above plus I would put the TV on the large wall too either in a combination media console/display cabinet, not one of those dated behemoths but something sleek like you find at Ikea, or on a long console with floating shelves above for display.

Hi decoenthusiaste,

Thank you so much for your suggestions. My question is if I move the 3 seater sofa like you said towards the window side, where do you suggest i put the love seat and the single seater sofa? Yes all of the sofas are recliners. Also for the drapes would you be able to suggest what kind of patterns would look good? Also what kind of fiber shades would look good?

Should I use a area rug, if so what colors or patters would look good?

Angle the chair in front of the new bookcases. As for drapes, if you match them to the wall color they will make the room feel larger, but you want cozy so look for a pattern (possible tone on tone,) and use bamboo or matchstick shades. Buy the shades after the curtains so you can decide if a smaller or larger pattern in the shades works with the curtain pattern. There are also some more sophisticated shades out there that block light/views, etc.

Neutral curtains with some texture. Replace those sad flat pillows with big fat ones, but not too many. Do one whole storage/display wall and eliminate all the other cases in the room.

Here's the display wall I stole four you, but there are a million other options. You should be able to buy or build or hack something to fit your needs.
And don't forget the art.
