Wool Dryer Balls

Does anyone here in the forum use wool dryer balls? I am wondering if its worth the effort to make them. Will they control static cling?

I have a set. They will slightly reduce static and slightly help reduce wrinkling. They are ok, but nothing special.

Now with my Condenser dryer, there is 1000% no static ever!! AMAZING!!

I use them, they are OK. Mostly useful with towels and such that I don't use softener with

Larsi, what is a Condenser dryer?

I use them. They are supposed to lessen drying time by aerating the clothes and maybe help soften. They don't really eliminate static, but may reduce it. I don't like all the chemicals in the fabric softener sheets, so the wool balls are my best option.

I got a set of 5. Couldn't tell they did anything.

The dogs LOVE them for inside playing so it wasn't a total loss.

I've used them for several years. They don't eliminate static, but they do reduce it. They allow items to dry faster like Kaytee said above. I use 3 at a time.

I decided to make some since I am a knitter and had several skeins of wool. I made six of them, because I read the more, the better. They have improved my bath towels.

I read somewhere in the laundry room that dryer balls will absorb moisture so than they still need to dry which means drying time is not reduced, also the balls need to bounce around the clothes to do their job, if its a large load or comforter there's no bouncing ball room...sounds reasonable to me.

I've been of the opinion that the reason dryer balls might work is the lanolin that wool has. But with the more highly processed wools, there might not be much lanolin in today's yarns. Unless the balls you get in the retail environment are still loaded with lanolin. I don't really know though. I do know about lanolin rich wool, as we used to have sheep. I've even sheared a few, lol. Projects for my kids as they were growing up.

I use them. Especially when hubs is napping. My dryer is under hubs bedroom. Drives him crazy. Doesn't matter how many chemo and radiation treatments he's been through -- Old Man shouldn't be napping during the day when he can't sleep at night! Bring 'em on!

I bought them and use them on my towels. Agreed that they don't reduce static, but my towels are soft and more absorbent now that I'm not using a fabric softener. I still use 1/2 of a bounce sheet for nylon underwear and socks, otherwise the static is impossible!
