so the consensus is that it is allowed but not recommended. Any other thoughts from the board here. I already have a few of the split voltage boxes wired up but think I may separate them. Note a divider itself is not the end-all solution either. You still typically have to make sure that none of the low voltage wiring passes through a section of the box where 120V connections are made. The insulation isn't necessarily rated for it.

As pointed out, it's easier and safer just to mount another box for the low voltage stuff. those are the boxes I wanted to use. It does have a separation between the HV and LV but they would not be separated by stud bays.

I think the general "separate stud bays" thing is just a general overkill rule so that you aren't running the HV and LV cables right beside each other for long stretches of space. That's when interference can cause problems with the low voltage stuff.

Having the two types of cable cross each other's path or come together at an outlet (as long as they are properly separated like with the approved boxes above) or even travel next to each other for short sections is not a big deal.

OK, those are separate boxes on a common frame. When you talk about dividers I thought you meant something that inserts into a box like this:

There's no problem with running Ethernet next to power either. In most cases TV cabling isn't going to be an issue either (in fact if we're about the consumer end of a digital cable or dbs (DishTV, DirectV) you shouldn't see any problems at all.
