Very nice, I think I would paint the inside of the arched side wall though.

I think it works in your room. Looks like you have lots of light and furniture that works with it. I echo others' suggestions about art and look forward to seeing photos of the finished product.

Not to misunderstand, I mean this inside arch!

Needs crown or something. Not a fan of accent walls or black painted walls - this treatment looks better with texture, think fabrics or wallpaper.

I like it in away but it depends on what your décor is going to be! The other photos here are cool looking with the décor they put on it. You have just accented the room and now need to finish it off to go along with it. Your eye will go to that wall as soon you walk into the room.

I have enough problems with dark in the winter that I would not have a black or gray wall, but I live in a northern climate.

It's sexy in a 1920's way. Keep the arch white.

I love it , do not paint the inside of the arch and I also would not do gallery wall but just one large awesome piece

I love it! I painted the wall behind my TV Urbane Bronze, which isn't black, but still very dark, and it took a while to get use to. You will love it once you get over the "shock".

Love the black. Once you pull your room together it will look great. Don't paint the inside arch, it wont look good from the other room. It blends with the trim. I agree with previous comment. On great piece of art work would look great. Contemporary and simple.

The black wall looks great. Since you are daring enough to paint the wall black why not take it up another notch and make it really high gloss ?

If you keep the arch white make sure you clean up the edges ;)

I'm not a fan of black walls , but that's just me. I do see how it could work ion your space once you break it up with some decor on the wall. I think you will need to live with it for awhile to decide.

Ok, so here's the problem I have with the white arch. It needs to be perfectly painted! The hallway is painted dark which is highlighting all the rectangular shapes of all those doors and competing with the lovely shape of the arched passages. To much going on. To busy. I would paint the hallway white and get rid of that competition. Take a fine sanding block and ever so gently run it along the edge to clean up your paint job. If I can see it's not perfect on my phone it s not good enough.

The OP said they weren't finished, so I'm sure they will clean up the edges.

jMc, make sure you get the black outlets and outlet covers for that black wall. you don't need the white ones that stand out.

the wall on the other side of the black wall, what color is that? maybe you should paint the inside of the arch black as well.

i've seen that black bathroom wall (it's actually wall paper) and love it!

I've always like the dark, black, walls. you can do so much with them. post a pic when you're done.

It looks great - and the wonderful thing about paint is that it is just paint. If you get sick of it - pick another color! Have fun accessorizing!

way to go! I was't that brave and painted my doors black, but you've inspired me. I do agree that a little gloss would be great, (maybe a lot). Also I agree that the arch should be black. I would go with one really large painting, and Take your time and find one u really like. It'll be worth it.

I like it. What color is the sofa? You may want to replace the outlet plates or paint them. Artwork is needed for this wall.

I LOVE it my husband and I painted our long wall in the living and dining room and he was a little apprehensive at first but once he seen my vision he instantly fell in love with it. We have two large decorative accent walls in our home both are very bold and still works in progress. Keep going you'll be so happy when your done.

Plastic table Bahaha!!!! It's stenciled flat black SW and their industrial high shine (enamel) the desk is Michael Amini and the sofa was a home goods find.

This is the other wall in my family room and down the second hallway. A painter in my home town did them.

omg, u did an awesome job on that stencil. (if it wasn't u, then whomever!) I've stenciled furniture in the past and it's a PIA! Kudos to you. Looks great! What is the industrial high shine enamel? I've only used their Pro Classic.

Ah, ok. that one I have used. On wood furniture. hated it! obviously it's better on drywall! The ProClassic's glossy finish doesn't come in a deep base (needed for dark colors) which is why I had to use that enamel (I did a deep blue color). I've since switched to BM Advance. Their glossy is glossier than the SW.

You can do the same treatment by simply using high gloss water base poly over the flat base coat.

I have also troweled on decorative plasters over stencils for a raised effect.
