Thank you! As I'm browsing through Houzz, that was what I was starting to think...reclaimed wood. Is that incredibly more expensive than going with a standard hardwood?

This place -- Olde Wood Ltd -- has lots of wood flooring, both solid and engineered, new and reclaimed, with many options from which to choose. It's a good place to at least get a handle on what you're really looking for, if nothing else!

Yah...reclaimed is a lifestyle choice, not an economic choice. Reclaimed will have a 50%-100% upcharge to a regular hardwood. And the floor in that picture looks to be a hand crafted, multiple width, reclaimed craftsman style floor. The reclaimed wood (in the $20+ per square foot range) will be HALF the price of the install. A super high-end installer (the same people who SOURCED the reclaimed wood) will be able to handle this type of install. there are a couple dozen outfits that could get this done in the USA. The rest would muck it up.

Do not worry about knots going all the way through to the subfloor. They can be taken care of in many different ways. One way is to fill the bottom with a darker filler and then top it off with clear epoxy. Also if you want a distressed look it can be recreated using new flooring.

To get that reclaimed look without paying the price of reclaimed materials, you may want to reconsider prefinished hardwood. You are correct in that prefinished hardwood does have 'micro bevels,' but the look varies depending on manufacturer and material style. Above are some examples that would get you pretty close to the look in your inspiration photo.
