could you place the table the other way? (I mean 180degrees)would you lighting still be in the center?
that way you could have a china cabinet (or not :)) i'm not sure what you meant by covering the table? a cloth?
if you did have a cabinet or a sideboard you could have decorations and lighting on that.

in my house we try everything :) to see how easy it is to walk around and for potential company, etc. I really like tablecloths and candles, sometimes it's quite elegant and even if it's just for us? it's nice :) i should have mentioned art too :) but that's a really personal choice.

Yes, try turning the table. You may be able to do a wall hung console on the end wall if you can't fit a buffet there. If you do turn the table, you may have to put a medallion in and move your light fixture over. Putting in a medallion will cover up any holes left from the original placement of the box.

Curious, does the chair rail just end on that right wall, or is it just not finished yet? If you are planning on ending it there you might want to consider doing a mitre and adding a piece down to the baseboard so it doesn't just stop.

Don't know your dimensions, but consider a banquette against far wall and wrap it to the short wall on left. This will add drama and comfort and maximize seating.

Nope it stops there, I guess the layout was done to signify the dining room area space... idk but the dr is medium small lol... dimensions are 11.5' width 29.0' length

Just because that is the dining area does not mean that you have to use only that sq. footage for the table and chairs. Turning the table longwise and moving it out of the space (considering where the chandy hangs) might give you room for something on the back wall. It could be a slender (as in thin) cabinet or shelving or just one floating shelf. Explore houzz for "floating shelves" to see how that would look, but I recommend it go across the entire space.

A table of that style should have a removable leaf. If you don't have 6 people sitting at this table all the time, it would help to reduce it to a square and put the 2 add'l chairs against the wall, flanking a buffet. That will give you more room and make it easier to center under the chandy.

Your original question was should you cover the table. Anything goes. Style is personal, not driven by hard rules of what you should or should not do. A table runner will be beautiful. They help prevent scratches from the stuff you put on the table. Love the vase of flowers. Flanking candlesticks would be pretty, too. It's fashionable now to use placemats (which can get very fancy), but most reserve a tablecloth for actual dinners. There's nothing more beautiful than a white linen cloth.

11.5 x 29', that's a fairly long room. If, shown in the second group of shots above, you have turned the table, and you do in fact have 29', then what you would want to do is move the chandelier over and the table further down the room, continue the chair rail, and you could put a buffet on the end wall. It's really difficult to see from your photos.
