Hi houzzers! I have a 650 sq ft apartment with a small bedroom that is need of your help. The bedroom itself is about 12 x 15. There's enough room for the small closet, a queen bed, two small night stands, small bench and a tall dresser. The room, while small, looks more spacious in person. A few things to note about the current decor:

-All the furniture is here to stay. (Unless you tell me that I've made some bad choices!)

-The head of the bed was originally on the wall to the left (if you are facing the room) and while you had more space to enter the room, the area in front of the bed and window were dead space. Since re-orientating the furniture we have gotten much more used of the space. But, happy to move it around again if you think it will look better.

-As for decor and color, I love mixing patterns and colors but I can't decide how to focus the bedroom. Bedding, pillows, curtains, lighting (lamp still has its tags on!) and art work are up for grabs. Painting the room is an option, but I'd rather not go down that avenue unless you all think it is a must. I don't want the room to scream "I am a [insert color] room." I would like to keep the gray fuzzy pillows (just found them on sale at Nordstrom.com!) I am pretty sure I don't think I want a geometric pattern to be the focus (despite the current throw pillow, it is really just a placeholder) and have been looking for a great floral pattern that is both modern and colorful to make for the lumber pillow. I can sew so if you come across some great patterns I'm open to making them into pillows.

-The bench. . .I bought it from a local artisan who made it from reclaimed barnwood. I think it grounds the bed and love it, but it needs to be dressed up, so open for suggestions on that as well. I have a picture with two pillows to give you an idea of how that looks. I've had those pillows for a long time and frankly kind of sick of them!

-Finally, the walls. Since the room is very tight, I have not been able to figure out what to put on each wall, if anything. Hence, one of them is completely blank. Sometimes I think dressing the walls will box in the room, but looking at these pictures I realize that the space needs something. The other wall has three old trouser hangers with art in them as placeholders. I like the middle piece - its from an artist in Germany. The other two are just things I found laying around the apartment. The empty stretcher bars on the dresser is a place holder too. I was thinking of getting some fabric to staple to it, but not set on anything. I prefer original art or limited prints

Since its a Manhattan apartment, I've also included some pictures of the rest of the apartment to get a feel for the style. BTW, you can't see into the bedroom from the main living area so we are not beholden to the color palette in main room.
