Our Miele dishwasher purchased in 2007 ($1500) was replaced at no cost after 3 years for unexplained noises. Then the intake valve and solenoid failures began. We had 4 of these failures over the next 10 years at around $300 a pop. The final failure happened last week and we have had enough. We are buying a Kitchen Aid.

Is anyone concerned that this is a single solenoid that is meant to go above a drip pan? The Miele is a double solenoid, and with a conduit to redirect the water into the drip pan? I would replace with a double solenoid if I could only find one! It seems you must be a professional to get the OEM part from Miele. BTW 0 I confirmed my intake valve was faulty by disconnecting the hose to the washer and activating the intake valve (using service mode U4)

I just wanted to update. The Solenoid replacement that I did lasted a little over a year, and then the Miele started to have other issues. I took it apart and the fill pump had gone bad. So at that point I knew it needed to be replaced. We looked at a bunch of brands, including Miele and Asko. But did end up with another Miele since it was a customer order that was never picked up and was at a $400 discount (G6625 Futura Crystal). We'd had it since April 2018 and haven't had any issues, though we did buy the 5 year Miele warranty.

Our 10 y old Optiam 2470 has triggered the drain/intake error for years. Sometimes it was actually a drain issue, but most of the time I think this solenoid was flaky - usually a few power cycles and mucking around with the drains seemed to give it a chance to reset. This was the first time I actually opened up the WPS and the filter was clean as a whistle. I'll follow up with the results of the valve replacement!

my repair was successful and lasted until the dishwasher died of other causes two years later. all in all, my dishwasher was a rockstar until it sprung a leak at the age of 12. I probably could have fixed it but we are moving so I bid it a sad farewell!

You can purchase the Miele replacement part called the "Waterproff System" from Miele. The new replacement part number is 1065631 (updated from 1065630), also check your dishwasher series for correct part. I called Miele number (800) 843-7231 and ordered part for around $154 and received part in a couple of days. You have to go down the phone menus to get to a live person! The part comes with a number of different flow-rate restrictors and instructions for changing depending on dishwasher model number. Be careful when removing the strainer basket as it is easy to break and pull out the restrictor with needle-nose pliers. The new one needs to be pressed into place carefully using a 5mm socket that allows you to press the restrictor in. Practice on your old part first. Good luck.

You won't believe this easy solution for a stuck water intake valve that was suggested by Miele. Remove the plastic cover to the valve under the sink. If you can feel the solenoid vibrating when it's attempting to open the valve, you may be in luck. Take a hammer and hit the casing. Yes, hit it hard. After about ten raps, the stuck valve should dislodge itself. This procedure actually worked for me after experiencing the problem with a one year old dishwasher. After three years, it became stuck again. I used the same procedure and it still cleared the problem. Try this before replacing the valve. And don't be afraid to hit it hard.

Thanks you so much for this. I've had to replace the valve at least 5 times in the last 10 years. When it failed today, that was the final straw, and I decided to buy a new dishwasher.

As much as I love Miele, this dishwasher and the lastest heat-pump dryer made me reconsider my choices. Knowing that Miele might have fixed the valve problem makes me feel better about buying another dishwasher from them.

Well - here is the two year follow up. I did a single solenoid replacement and I have had no issues since. Hope I did not jinx it by posting.

So my 7 year old (April 20 2018) G6625 is now having the same issue and will not fill with water, giving a water intake fault. I looked at the exploded part view on the Miele site and the is now internal (under the unit) from how it looks, making it more difficult to get to. The part is also $250. This is now the 2nd Miele that I've owned in 15 years that have had this problem (see my original post). Since this part is now under/internal, it would have to be replaced with the same Miele part, as you can't do the external solenoid replacement with a different brand like I did with the older Miele. At this point I don't know if it's best to fix it by replacing this internal solenoid or go with a new unit. As much as I love the cleaning, a new Miele is like $1400-1700 for a similar mode (the G7000 series), which with other things going on here it's not a good time to spend money on a dishwasher. But with 2 miles that lasted 7-8 years and then had parts fale, makes me wonder about going with another brand like Bosch or Asko.

Topologically, one could still extend the solenoid output hose and ac line into the sink cabinet and install an in-line solenoid and 4.1 l/min restriction there where one has easy access in the future (and can watch for leaks). I did this some years ago and both functional parts have continued to operate since then.

@wdccruise I looked at that link for the part you posted, and they even show very expensive computer parts and extremely low prices.....too low. So I did a WhoIS search and it shows that web site is registered to CN (China), so it makes me think it's fake parts listings. I will probably order from the Parts of Amaerica link as that is reputable.

So I was looking and noticed that Miele USA now offers 5 and 10 year dishwasher warranties. The 5 year is $319 (use to be $250) and the 10 year is $780. In the past only Miele Canada had a 10 year option. Some of their higher end (and more expensive models) are currently including the 5 year warranty. But to spend almost $780 for a 10 year warranty is a bit much if the unit is under $2000. But for their higher end units that are $3000+ then buying a 10 year warranty could be worth it

On a side note, Asko has all their new models including a 5 year warranty (basically extending the 2 year to 5 year) and a $150 rebate. So I could get an asko for $1000-1100 and then get a $150 and 5 year warranty. This is a better value to me than the Miele units starting at $1200-1400.

The least-expensive CR-recommended dishwasher is the Bosch SHX5AEM5N at $900 so if you can fix your dishwasher for $100 and you're otherwise happy with it, it's worth the investment. My 2005 Whirlpool dishwasher conked out several times before I finally figured out how to fix it properly but I won't give it up because it washes perfectly.

The solenoid replacement I ordered on Sunday from PartsOfAmerica shows that it shipped Monday evening from Canada we with UPS Worldwide expedited to be delivered on Wednesday 4/30. So that's pretty good for $15 shipping. Will update once I get it and have time to install it.

The Miele replacement valve for the older external valve configuration ships with a set of restriction parts for setting the flow rate. Evidently your internal configuration incorporates the restriction into the valve. If memory serves, 4.1 L/min is the nominal flow utilized by my Optima. (I don't think the restriction method used is insensitive to water pressure, so likely it is intended to limit the maximum flow at the rated water pressure.) The water valve to the dishwasher could be partially closed to lower flow rate if needed.

$900 (Bosch replacement) - $100 (part) = $800 / 3 hours (installation) = $267/hour AFTER TAX. Not bad!

@kaseki on my original Miele that has the external solenoid built into the hose, it was a easy fix to replace with aftermarket solenoid parts that was in the YouTube video. It had a fast fill and sometimes would show an error so had to restrict the flow using the water valve.

But on this G6625 model, the solenoid is under the unit as shown in the pictures. It has a green plastic strainer and there was some black rubber in there, but not enough to stop the water flow. When I took this solenoid out, it has printed on the side 2.5 L/min, but the Miele parts web site shows their replacement as 4.1L/min. So maybe they made a change on their replacement part. The aftermarket solenoid I ordered from Parts of America (made in Canada) says 4.1L/min on it as well.

Today when using a full wash cycle, I could definitely hear the "hum" from the new solenoid, that the original one never made (would only hear the water running into the tank. Even though I wish I wasn't making this humming sound, it only does it when using the new solenoid to fill with water for about a minute. I'll just have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get louder. But overall for $100 for the part and the 3.5hr that it took for me to do, I'm relatively pleased with the results.

So I've had this new solenoid installed 5 days and have run it each evening as usual. When I first installed it, it seemed like the water fill was pretty quick since it says 4.1L/min (faster than the original Miele solenoid I took out that says 2.5L/min). But now it seems like it's taking longer to fill. I timed it, as soon as the water begins to fill until it stops is 48-52 seconds. I even had it fill once with the door open (pressing the latch inside) and the water looked to be a slow drizzle.

What I'd like to ask is if someone else with a Miele G4000 or G6000 series dishwasher can time how long it takes yours to fill with water.

When I replaced the part, I noticed that the original solenoid has a green plastic water screen on the intake and it had small black rubber pieces. It appeared that the rubber O Ring Gasket inside of the intake connector is starting to degrade. I took that gasket out and cleaned it good and put it back in, as I had to use it to seal with the new replacement solenoid part. Now I'm wondering if that gasket might of degraded more and is caught in the water screen filter of the new solenoid (I'd have to take it all apart just to look and find out). And it has come apart some, I don't see a listing for it on the Miele replacement parts diagram for my G6625, so probably couldn't even get that gasket from them.

If the gasket is an o-ring (toroidal with circular section), it will be of a standard metric size (one of an enormity of standard sizes) that can be sourced in neoprene or viton from local hardware stores, or from, e.g., mcmaster.com or mscdirect.com, or if rarely used, from a specialty distributor. I might be able to find my stockpile of external solenoid hose pieces to perform a measurement, but I wouldn't assume that your internal valve necessarily has the same o-ring.

I also vaguely recall that a green one is the 4.1 l/min flow restriction device on the external system, and is one of several that were supplied with the replacement hose assemblies. That I can check in my paperwork.

@kaseki this is what my G6625 had from the factory, part number 10359301 that says 2.5L/min.

But when I went on Miele part site for my G6625 dishwasher it listed the part as 7934077 with 4.1L/min. When I ordered the part from Parts of America, it was their equivalency of the 7934077 that says 4.1L/min.

From some further looking on the Miele parts site, the original part 10359301 that was in the unit, shows a newer 10359302. I searched for both of those and show them on eBay. It's not just the solenoid and small hose, but also the 5' water intake hose attached to it.

So it's weird that my G6625 came with 10359301 2.5L from the factory, but they are showing the replacement part as 7934077 4.1L not the 10359302 2.5L.

But since the 10359302 listings on eBay show it comes with both hoses on either end of the solenoid connected, it would have that rubber O Ring Gasket already installed. I really don't want to pay $220 for the part from Miele, as the one I got from Parts of America was $100 and appeared to be good quality. But would like to replace the original gasket if possible that connects between the intake hose as the metal bolt on the solenoid.

I have this restrictor information from the Miele replacement valve instructions:

• orange -- initially installed; no flow rate data given
• green -- 4.1 l/min
• grey -- 4.9 l/min
• blue -- 6.0 l/min
• white -- 5.25 l/min

These have various dishwasher model numbers associated with them.

The washer illustration is flat, not circular in section; I haven't found the actual parts yet. If your washer is actually flat, then you might find spares from your local hardware store's faucet washer collection.

@kaseki So I've got a bit of an issue. Since using this solenoid 7934077 4.1L/min that I got from Part of America last week, the G6625 dishwasher is making a loud low frequency vibrating sound when filling with water and is getting worse.

The original part in there was 10359301 that is 2.5L/min and Miele site shows it was replaced with part 10359302. I'm not sure why my G6625 dishwasher shows on their site to use part 7934077 4.1 L/min. But with this loud vibration that is coming from it each time it fills with water, I am not comfortable using it. I sent an email to Parts of America and explained the issue to them, asking if I can swap this part 7934077 that I gr for the 10359302 part to see if that resolved the issue. Otherwise if have to order the OEM Miele part 10359302 that is $220. But this loud noise and vibration has never happened before when filling with water unit after I've been unit it with the new solenoid the past 6 days.

Presumably you have a valve in series with the dishwasher water feed. Try closing that part-way to restrict the flow. You have the sound to go by if you don't want to actually measure the restricted flow. At the risk of offending the beloved world of cats, there is more than one way to skin them.

@kaseki I actually tried closing off the supply line valve under the sink and this method isn't working. It takes about 90% of it closed until I can start to hear the flow is being restricted some, but even when closing it slightly more, it's not making a difference with this loud vibration noise from the dishwasher. Of course with it fully closed, about 5 second later it stops trying to fill and shows the fill fault (like it did a few weeks ago).

A few l/min flow at, say, 80 psi will require a rather small orifice, so being close to shutoff doesn't surprise me. A needle valve would be called for to regulate at these flow rates. I am unclear about the vibration, or even if it is related to the solenoid valve. Perhaps this replacement valve or something else in the dishwasher lacks enough "stiffness" to resist some form of water hammer. I haven't had that problem with my Miele Optima, so no data here.

@kaseki last week I sent an email to Parts of America with information about my model and the solenoid that I took out that was part 10359301 at 2.5L/min but the one ordered and installed was 4.1 and the dishwasher is making a loud sound and vibrating when filling with water. Wanted to see if I could replace it with their 2.5L/min model. They asked for a picture of my Miele lable showing the model and serial number and the solenoid I took out. That was now 8 days ago and haven't heard back, yesterday I sent another email.

My first Miele Dishwasher was a G2143 that I got in 2010. It lasted 8 years and then the motor died in Feb 2018 (would fill with water but not spray). The price to fix it (part and labor was $1000).
So I replaced it with a G6625 in April 2018 that was discount from $1400 to $1100. It has worked just fine until March 2025 and the water intake solenoid went bad. I bought a replacement solenoid (aftermarket for $90) and fixed it myself and has been working.

This past week in August 2025 I started to hear a metal grinding sound coming from the bottom of the dishwasher (where the motor is). It runs, washes and drains, but sounds like a weed wacker when the motor is running. My mechanic friend said it sounds like the bearings have went bad and the motor could stop at any time.

The replacement motor is $600. So don't want to spend that on repairing an 8 year old dishwasher when something else could go bad at any time (such as a drain pump).

I have been looking at new dishwashers models online. The Miele G7106 ($1650) was replaced this year with the G7216 (currently $1799) but some local stores have the G7106 discounted to $1400-1500.
I looked at Asko (like I did years ago) and their quality is questionable and replacement parts are hard to get.
Bosch is commonly known to be a good brand, but don't really like the racking system (looking on the 800 and Benchmark).

This is a bad time financially for me to replace a dishwasher, but if it has to be done, then I'll do it. I generally don't like to cheap out on appliances, as I originally had a GE Profile dishwasher that was repaired 6 times in 1 year, replaced with an Electrolux and it was also a nightmare. So I went without one for a year until I got the Miele G2143 in 2010 and was great for 8 solid years until it's motor died. Now the G6625 motor is going out at 8 years.

At least Boschs last longer than Miele. Agree with racking critique.

While I haven't had this issue with my ca. 2010 Optima, it sounds like a motor that can't get up to speed, or which has a clutch that can't handle the load. Did your examination of the pump motor area suggest excess bearing drag was present? I don't recall exactly what I could get to when I did a pro forma clean out of mine several years ago.

@kaseki I know the sound is coming from the motor. A few months ago I started to notice it was slightly louder than before, could hear a "hum" when running. Then a couple weeks ago we went to run it and it made this much louder sound that I recorded. Since a full wash cycle is about 2 hours, about half way through, it sometimes gets quieter. But I haven't taken this motor apart, as I don't want to damage it or there me any leaks when put back together. The first Miele G2000 series I had from 2010-2018, when that motor completely stopped working, I took it apart and there was nothing stuck inside of it, and the impeller was able to rotate manually.

Last weekend I did use the Miele Dishwasher Cleaner bottle just to see what would happen, but as I expected it didn't fix anything as I highly doubt there is anything trapped in the circulation pump.

So after a year of using the new water intake valve, it still works. But the issue with the circulation pump motor has got worse. Sounds like a power drill. Now I am getting F78 errors and everything I've tried isn't fixing it. Now I can only do a load using the Quick Intensive Wash since it isn't very long. Doing the the other wash cycles (normal, china, sani) will stop after 20-30 min, drain the water and show the F78. So I have to either buy a new motor ($640 from Miele or can get about $500 new on eBay) or new dishwasher.

I think the F78 fault indicates an operation issue with the circulation pump. The drain pump uses a different motor. If you like your machine and are willing to do the replacement 5 to 6 hundred dollars is much cheaper than buying a new dishwasher.

@Jerrod yes the F78 is an issue with the circulation pump motor. Last year it started making noise like the motor or bearings were going out and over the past several months has continued to get louder. It's working again, reset the unit to default and manually cleared the faut code. Also ran two loads with the Miele dishwasher cleaner. After doing all that, it's been running and with less noise with no faucet code. But could still happen again. So it's either buy a motor ($500 ebay new, $650 Miele direct) or a new dishwasher such as the G7xxx series that is $1900.

Well folks while it is difficult or impossible to predict the trouble free life of an appliance 2 times 8 year life of Miele DW would really have me not do it again with a Miele.

I like Fisher Paykel DishDrawers, their dual function motors-one direction for circuation, reverse for pump out- are much cheaper than your cited Miele prices and are easily tool free replaced without removing the DW. I did replace one for a relative, took less than five minutes, lift out rack, lift off spray arm, remove cover plate , 1/4 turn of motor housing then lift out and replace with new-done.

Higher end Whirlpool made Maytags have reportedly been good in recent years, perhaps Whirlpool and Kitchenaid branded ones as well?

The circulation pump motor on my Miele G6625 completely went out about 6 weeks ago. It would only run for about 2-3 min, drian and give the F78 error. After some searching and checking eBay every few days, I found one for sale (model 10397318 is the replacement motor) and was about $200 less than buying directly from Miele. I got it in a few days ago and installed it this week. Total job time was about 3 hours (took my time, but the hose clamps were a pain). Ran it a few times, works fine, just like it use to. So for $440, I hope it lasts and I don't have any more issues with the unit. I just had to spend $1200 on parts+labor fixing my Carrier AC blower motor, so can't do a new dishwasher.

Here is a 5 year update - after replacing the fancy pants Miele intake valve with a < $20 single solenoid. For

about two years I have been getting F13 errors intermittently. It got so bad i actually had a guy out to replace the intake valve with the OEM product. But he coulsn't since i had lost watever adapter Miele uses to change from standard solenoids to the regular one. In any case - he never go t back to me and I have been living wiht it. I have found that if I just run the U4 program (which forces the intake valve open fro a few liters of input) it seems to reset everything and I can complete a cycle without F13 error being thrown. Sometimes it goes several washes. Sometimes I have to do this over and over. In any case.... 16 years old now - andstill working great with this little inconvenience.

@John Butman this is the aftermarket solenoid that I got last year and replaced the OEM that went bad (wouldn't fill). For $100 it works just like the original.

If water intake valve gets stuck in open or closed position try gently tapping the valve enclosure with a hammer while valve is engerized. This helps free-up a stuck solenoide valve. This has worked for me on several occassions. I also fell that my high water pressure is part of the problem, causinf the valve to stick.
