I think that would be a great color.

Yes, the black needs to go, including on the gables. Your stone and black gables are giving a very heavy appearance to the home. The architecture and fence say "stone farmhouse" to me, but the color of the stone and trim are just not following through with that style. I think the beige stucco is missing the mark too and the two textures need to be unified. I would paint the stucco and the little gable window a darker shade from the stone. Try matching the color of that dark tan stone that is on a 45 degree angle from the left window's left top corner. That should provide less contrast between stone and stucco. Then match the trim to the white of the windows. Once that's done, revisit the front door. I suspect, unless you're really into big pops of color, you might match the door color to the new stucco color. I certainly wouldn't go with orange. That would lean heavily into Halloween. If you don't care for the farmhouse style, then go for charcoal paint on the stucco to match the stone, and take your home in a more modern direction. You can see lots of charcoal homes on Houzz to inspire you, and that will open the door color up to just about anything.

I darkened up your stucco, which helps to balance out the black a bit. I tried to lighten your front door but the new color wouldn't show up over the black. I would agree with deco that painting the door the same color as the window trim would help.
