I actually like the cherry stain color better, even though right now the trend seems to be to vanquish all red looking wood. I think it looks sharp with the grey walls, and either one looks fine with your countertop I think.
Seems to me that the trend with oak right now is to go with a bleached or greyed look, but I don't think that look will be long lived.
Fwiw, my floors are cherry stained oak... it's not what I would've picked out but they were already here and they're in nice condition. The walls were originally yellow, but I'm not a yellow walls kind of girl. Now my walls are cool white and a bluish-grey and it really looks great against the floors. (I've decided that when it's time to refinish these oak floors I will go with a Waterlox finish, and since the floors are red oak, they will always have a red tone to them, not interested in fighting that anymore.)
I suspect that most people are going to say to go with the medium brown because so many are opposed to the red tones now.

My Facebook poll is 90 percent cherry with the remaining split between the brown and painting, but we aren't going to paint them so...
