kitchen cabinet issue - should we send back

I have a question on how far to push the contractor and if it's even necessary. One of our base cabinets has a warped door. The contractor said they will get the cabinet guy to replace that. That same cabinet base had a bowed top, easily detected with the eye. The contractor said that this happens and we have to work with it. He said it happens with a lot of manufacturers. He ended up putting a piece of wood in the top to push the cabinet front out to make it square. See attached picture, bottom cabinet with extra piece in it. My husband said we should not accept it. I get the feeling from the contractor that it's ok to send a door or drawer back, but the cabinet box would delay the project so he just wants to "fix" any issues he sees. I asked him when he recommends sending them back and he said when there is any damage that can't be repaired.

I wanted to know what is typical. I don't want to be too picky but I also paid a lot of money for these cabinets and they should not require modifications.

Looks to me like he fixed the problem.

I would rather forge ahead than wait several weeks when the problem was so easily fixed.

It's the one with the perpendicular piece put in. That piece pushes it out in the middle to make it square. You would see it if that piece was removed. That piece was put in by the contractor and was not part of the cabinet as received. See cabinet in the top of the pic to compare. Thx!

I'd sure wonder what the cabinets were made of that bowed in shipment. However, your contractor's fix seems pretty decent as long as this isn't a sink base. It is a very wide cabinet. (I would have wanted all large drawers for pots and pans!)

Thx for your comment. That is a pantry wall with "junk drawers" in the middle. Small appliances will be put in the bottom. Cabinets are all wood/plywood. Large drawers in island and under rangetop.

You could it send back and get a warped one again, you never know. With that big of a width I would think it happens more than you think. Even buying deck boards it was a chore to find straight ones. I think modifications are fairly common with cabinetry, and if that wood insert is sturdy and the piece is straight now I think I would forego the delay and keep it. No one will ever know it is that way once its complete. I would assume the contractor makes these sort of adjustments frequently.
