Start with an inspiration piece such as a pillow you love. If you look in your closet, your favorite colors will be clear. Here's a room with red accent, for example:

A patterned area rug would be a great place to start with color. So neutral almost anything could work... Have fun with it :)

I cannot see the full window view but if your room permits I would suggest this idea ,

What accent color do you use in the rest of your home? The configuration below with the chaise and the 2 chairs might work. Maybe a blue chaise, with beige chairs and blue kidney pillows on the chairs. I'd also put a console on one of the walls and decorate it - maybe add a beverage center also.

Choose a color you see outside your window and bring it in to the room. I realize this color could change with the seasons, but it might be the blue sky and/or water, or green trees and grass or grays from a mountain view.

Ok there are many colors and normally i start with the rug too, or what colors you like, but, there is a lounger, it comes in gray and i think blue. it is filled with down. I suspect that once in, that maybe your whole vacation. I would put two and all you need for a special spot. books etc.

yes, this is the blue, there is also a pale gray. we can bring other colors with other things. Yummy!

I would be getting one of these and looking out the windows to the mountains

here's two colour suggestions. you can have chaise in this colour too. add some outdoor mountain greenery into your room as well. use neutral colour rug.

Here is a mountain home that I am currently working on. It is a rustic modern mountain home. This is a small sitting area. A great way to add color is through the art or accessories. In this case, the owner wanted to keep the colors neutral to blend in with the exterior. As for color, just look outside, that is the best place to get inspiration from!

I would like to know what you plan on using the room for? What are your hobbies or activities that you might be partake in while in the room? Here is a preliminary idea for seating in the room. Its a little more versatile, and offers more seating yet still yields to a lounger if you should choose.

Like some of the other responses, I would keep the base furniture neutral and add color in accessories. This keeps things much more flexible and practical. Something like this:

Of course the color does not need to be this bright. I would start with your favorite color and what are some of the other color choices in your home.

I would do a bright chair with some fun pillows in it!! Also instead of one giant picture on that wall because it is bigger you could do a bunch of smaller prints.

A comfy, nap and book friendly, pale teal sofa with a low back that just fits under the window would reflect the sky and encourage daydreaming. Put a patterned rug on the floor, an antique old mirror on the wall facing the doorway to reflect the window light, and a small tulip table or rolling old trunk for putting down a book or teacup.

Love this cobalt blue with your walls and flooring. Pair with another chair a fluffy stool to lay a book on and relax!

Here is a softer aqua color. I would want some color in this space but that is up to you. What is going in the adjoining space? Colors? Style?

Love those walls -- and gorgeous mountain views are a plus. There's nothing to match the artwork of nature.

When you mentioned the mountain views, and I saw the walls in your photo, my immediate thoughts went to a large, colorful, representational work of art to coalesce with what you see outside your window. High, bold color goes well in a contemporary setting, and I'm appending The Land of Chief Joseph, Flecks of Gold, and Spirit of the Canyon as examples of bold artworks that speak a message as well.

Yea, I did and it was similar wasn't it. But I knew you would love the "cobalt" one! haha

A rif on this room would be very pretty. The colors are red, white and blue in variations of those primary colors with blacka nd white. The nicest thing about this room is that the furniture is in great proportion to room size....I think a ratio of 4 to 7 works well on wall. For every four feet of furnture you need 7 feet of wall.

Pattern curtains large wall art smaller leggy sofa and modern chairs, fun benches for extra sitting...only pattern is in curtains, art, benches, rug with the benches being the accent color to relate to the pillows. So pretty! Style might not be your desire but the elements can work in the room in your interpretation and color choices.
