If you knew the difference would it make a difference in how you take care of it? You're either going to dig it out or spray it out with Grass-b-Gon.

Michael,

Please don't read this and then run with it.

I remember reading somewhere on here ( lotta years ago) that it was safe to spray weeds with round-up while the Bermuda is dormant and it wouldn't harm the Bermuda. Anyone know if there is any truth to that or was someone expressing their sick sense of humor or ignorance?

I'm going with dallisgrass.

Thanks for the replies. There is too much to dig out, and I was hoping to not spray a non-selective herbicide. My bermuda doesn't look dormant right now, there is new green shoots. There is selective post-emergent that could be used, but only a few work on dallisgrass if that's what it is.

Where in NC 7b are you?

Depending how big your yard is I would use a Fiskar weed puller and pull some every week. That is what I do anytime I see dallisgrass in my yard.

Get some round up and a paint brush/rag and paint/wipe it on. They are well big enough to easily stay clear of your bermuda. I had about 40 patches of this in my new lawn and spent 2 hours using this method...
