Questions for people with a pre-rinse faucet...

Now that you have one, would you ever go back? Also, are they more difficult to clean?

I had one in my previous home/kitchen, made by Kraus, #1602 I think. I absolutely loved it! That one had two faucets, the pre-rinse one, and a second "regular" one. I can't have that faucet in this kitchen because I have cabinets above my sink in this kitchen, so don't have the height available. I did not find mine more difficult to clean whatsoever. The only problem I had was that it was so tall it wobbled when the plumber first installed it, but he did something--I am sorry, I don't know what--to make it not wobble. If I were installing as a DIY, I would not have known how to fix that, but my plumber did.

The only thing I would warn about with pre-rinse faucets, what I saw in a showroom that had a lot of them on display, is that the faucet, although on that springy arm, was not that maneuverable with some of them. I.e., some felt stiff to get it to stretch into the sink's corners. Some did not have that problem, so I think you need to go to a showroom that has these on display and feel them in your hands.

@Miranda33, thank you, very good information! My sink is on my island, and I don't think I want something so tall, so I would go with the shorter Kraus or the Kohler Sous.

It's this style of commercial faucet that is becoming more and more popular in homes.

I love ours! I wipe a dishtowel around the spring but because of its height it really isn't getting splashed in with food. It is the Grohe K7 medium. It is better proportioned for homes. 21.5 tall. It does not have the 2nd spout like others. Flexible and you don't need to hold the button to spray - you can select stream or spray.

@bpahome, I'm not 100% sure, but I think because they are high pressure and used in commercial settings to rinse dishes before going into a dishwasher.

They are used in the restaurant sink that comes before the dishwasher ... Nice to have for rinsing out the big pots and things.

In a home kitchen it might be useful if you don't want the dangling loop of a pull-out under the sink.

I had one for a few years. We hated it. As I used to own a commercial bakery I was well versed in using one, but finally realized that the commercial kitchen's sink was much deeper. The standard kitchen sink with this faucet caused a problem in that those faucets have spring to them. If you don't make sure to get the faucet secured back to the arm when you are finished using it and then someone comes along and turns on the water without realizing it's not snapped back in then you get the wild spraying water hose effect. Maybe they've improved that aspect of the design, but I'm happy to be back with my tall pull down faucet.
