Pastels don't last very long in the heat of the deep south, so I am looking for something rich.

I wouldn't lump all "pastels" into the category of not lasting long in sunny climates.

Whether a color lasts long exterior has to do with organic and inorganic colors -which is why not every color in the paint store can be used exterior and why you should never, never custom mix your own colors for an exterior.

Darker colors actually have a tougher time holding up against the elements because they absorb more light energy, typically fade faster and as a result are impossible to touch up.

So, you can let go of the idea that you are limited to darker colors from a technical, durability perspective.

From what I have read before having my house painted last year, newer paints hold up to sun and weather a lot better than they used to, as long as you buy good paint like Behr Marquee or one of the other top brands. I also suggest a dark paint to make your bricks pop since they are a lighter color of brick and your roof is not dark as well. Black, navy blue, or hunter green would all work in making those lighter colored bricks pop! I lived in an all brick home suburb for 26 years and learned a lot about what looks great with certain colors of bricks. I would definitely stay away from white and light colors.

I think that charcoal or black would make the brick star those doors really need to replaced with a style that complements the house and the pots need to be black and tall square shape IMO and also some new landscaping to enhance the style

Yes change the doors to modern doors and those planters need to be streamlined like Patricia Colwell says above. I would also change the walkway to emphasize the MCM appeal. The steps in pic 1 are classic MCM. See these inspiration pics for ideas:
