What should I plant along my front walkway?

I have a new concrete walkway and I'd like to plant something colorful on either side of it. I'd also like to plant something big and bushy on either side of the stairs to cover up where some of the construction was done. Any recommendations would be great!

Before we can suggest plants we need to know your horticultural zone--where you live. It looks as if you get plenty of rain. From the photo it looks as if the right side is shady and the left side is sunny. Is that correct?

Along the pathway Black Mondo Grass can look lovely as it contrasts with the green grass and at the end you could either frame with two pampas grasses or some large ornamental grasses (green in the summer and a lovely straw colour in the winter)

Thanks guys! Sorry I didn't see this earlier, I'd turned off my alerts. I live in Central Virginia and we have moderate rainfall. And yes, half the yard is definitely shadier than the other half...
