Did your update/renovation/remodel change your cooking style?

It changed mine. I became a clean as you go cook. Now that I know that, if I were to update again I would go further and try to add a second sink so that I would have one sink for prep and one for cleanup.

My overall style and frequency of cooking has stayed the same, but the addition of a third oven that is a cso has definitely made cooking easier and has helped my resolve to eat healthier.

My Bluestar range top allows me to do a lot more sautéing than my old Thermador. I do a lot more stir fry, too. This in turn makes me do a lot more finishing in the ovens. I simply cook at home a lot more than I did in the past.

Yes, it changed both my cooking style and my lifestyle. Worth every single dollar I spent on the reno project. I now cook almost entirely from scratch (2 big multi-functional programmable ovens + a CSO + induction cooktop). Healthier and cheaper. With plenty of prep space it's easy to have several projects going at once. The pleasure in the new kitchen also led me to entertain much more than I'd done prior.

Best reno decisions were huge windows, big deep sinks, and a budget tilted toward better appliances and less-expensive cabinets (just for my circumstances, YMMV).

I cook way more often than I did.. it's just easier now that the kitchen is bigger and better.

It didn't really change mine, but it made me way happier about doing it.

Per the other thread, opening it up and adding an island made it so much more social. It used to be that I had my back to everything and people would drag in a dining room chair to talk to me.

Now I face my family and/or guests (even if I'm looking down at the cutting board they're still not looking at my back) and they can sit at the island. This also gets them out of my way!

Our kitchen is now much more functional and a pleasure to be in. Before we remodeled there was very little prep space and it was poorly lit. We removed a wall, so now it's open to a nearby room so it's much brighter, we have a lot of counter space, lots of lighting and the layout is much nicer. We spend a lot more time together as a family, cooking more complicated/involved dishes on a regular basis since prep and cleanup are so much easier, and the space is a pleasure to be in. We used to wait for the weekends to make dishes w/multiple steps or had a lot of prep work because our space was small, uninviting, and cleanup was a hassle. The kids cook a lot more now because of the improved function of the kitchen and the more welcoming space.

I definitely cook and/or bake more often and I experiment with recipes more. I expect that is largely do to the induction cooktop and the combi-steam oven as the layout didn't change significantly. I don't know that my prep/clean-up style has changed much though .... I still make a mess.

Cooking is much more fun because of the added counter space, removal of traffic problems and new layout of sinks, stove and fridge. So worth it!

I'm back to baking with the kids more, too.

When our first two were born we had a peninsula which was great for working with them.

With the next two we had a short L of perimeter counters. The kitchenaid was in the corner so baking with even one kid was difficult and two was nearly impossible.

Now we have a huge island so baking with the kids is delightful. I've even hosted girl scout troops for cooking badges because it's so easy for lots of people to work at once.
